Request: Please Allow Alts to Share Houses

I have a lovely house in Mist but my alts can only access it if I leave it open to the public. Even when the house is unlocked, they are unable to use the garden or interact with the furniture.
I don't want to buy a separate house for each of my characters; even if the supply was unlimited that would not appeal to me. However, I do feel I'm not getting as much use from my house as I could. Being able to share it across my account would be a great QoL improvement.

There are so many threads on this board from people frustrated because of the housing shortage. Giving players like me the option to share a house between our alts won't solve the problem but it would have a positive impact.

An alternate is a complete different profile if you want them to have access make it an FC home not a personal. Think about how that rule would apply in RL, Hey Solara you may not know this I'm your alternate let me use your stuff.

Should they also share relics as well? What your asking if for them to give alternates exclusive rights to something that they have achieved in a complete different profile. Hence the word alternate. If your running an FC you should have no problem having them form one, get a house, as an FC for your alternate profiles. I will have my alternate use purchase a new home in the New area once it comes available just to get more airships / storage / and gardening. You mighty a s well prep yours or have an Alternate take over as Captain on your current FC and you can grab a new one so you don't have to do the whole story on alternate. I wouldn't want to see exclusive exceptions to alternates getting current home access to personal homes. Maybe if they were in eternal bonding I could understand otherwise I think I rather have programmers use their time on more areas for housing. With the current housing issue I think allowing alternates to have access would be last on their list.

How? You can only give residency to friends, and to add someone to your friend list they have to be online. Unless you have two different accounts, adding an alt as a friend is impossible because you can't have two characters from the same account online at the same time.

Wow! Wasn't expecting such a robust response and to be honest, I'm a little puzzled by it. I'm not asking for shared Relics, Achievements or anything like that, I'd just like the option for any player's alts to use their personal house without having to make a solo-fc. I'm even asking for it to be an option, so nobody would be forced if they didn't want to.

I was hoping to get a little support as this has often been suggested in other housing threads as a possible way of easing the demand for housing. Since I couldn't find a thread explicitly asking, I decided to make one.

That would be nice. Even better would be much improved options for who can use a house. Right now it is somewhat of an all or nothing affair - nobody else can enter the house, or everybody can enter.

I would like much more fine-grained options: Being able to list individual characters who can enter. Some may be given permission to interact with items inside the house or even redecorate, while others can only enter. And so on.

No need for SE to enter 2017. Just give us what was possible 15 years ago in XI. What we had in XIV before they made it impossible to add offline characters to your flist. Not that hard if they actually wanted to. They don't. That's the problem. I'm a tad bit annoyed if I may say so....
