So having negative feelings about seeing nothing but sexy at all costs for 1 body type is a crap debate. Nah. It's only a debate if you choose to argue about it. Takes 2 to tango. I have the right to an opinion and I'm going to post it.
you posted in a thread clearly labeled swim suites.
Having negative feelings over pixels is pretty silly, and yes it is crap as most of the people making the sexy outfits are women in the industry.
Pretty much you are starting something that doesn't need to be said, and no reason to say it. It has been debunked countless of times that video game bikinis, and fit figures isn't objectification.
Please give Anita my regards.
(im posting for my g.f btw, but i agree with what she saying)
And it's entirely possible to have more than nothing but skimpy bikinis. When I see the image, I see this:
No matter how many fancy details put into the print, it all boils down to boobies boobies boobies. There's nothing special about them and XIV is one of the most in world detailed mmos I've ever seen. Fancy designs but in what way would they serve a purpose other than something for someone to drool over. We already have the black coerl set and the other basic shape bikinis. I think the only thing missing is a triangle top. And it's honestly enough in my eyes.
When I think MNK, I think bandages, tribal designs, and something with a bit of poof or flare while not being detrimental. When I think DRK I think Paine pretty much from X-2. I am not seeing something that should be anywhere near the game and from my standpoint just looks like something a Vegas hooker would pick up before walking the strip.
If you can't get the hint, I'm asking you to stop with the feminazi trolling
It is putting a sour note on a good thread. The person just showed an example. Please stop trolling with a debunked topic that shouldn't be in gaming.
No one is saying anything about thongs or bikinies. Again please stop.
Please go to tumblr or Anita Sarkeesian with this bs. Not ruin a perfectly good thread on a cool concept.
If you didn't see my post i did for my g/f, we asked for a studded one like paines.
Yes i do actually, my g/f talks about it often (too often) And all of them are crap, there was a time and place were is was needed, but in a first world, on a video game. There is no need for the discussion.Oh please I bet you don't even know the different branches of feminism and that Anita is not the spokeswoman for everything related to the subject. Here's a thought, not everyone will like what you like and not everyone will like what I like. But both parties can express how they feel and it's actually not trolling when said event happens.
Given the track record for design in game and for the sake of originality, I find something like this more fitting. Again, going back to MNK for simplicity. It just fits the role with a strong sense of originality by taking a very simple concept and combining it with another. Visually appealing and I'm quite positive can look good on mid and highlanders alike regardless of shoulder broadness and chest size.
some info about me: my main character was originally a female miqo'te, I dressed her tastefully and not "sexy". I like the look of the character. I met my gf on the game, she was a lalafell (also dressed tasteful) but at times loli/goth loli.
Women have the right to wear what they want, and in the beach volleyball game they (the characters) are wearing bikinis they like.
I could easily say the image was used is objectifying women very easily, as the way the cut is, your eyes are drawn to her bust, and the outline along her hips is more revealing then most as any slip can have a wardrobe malfunction.
The reason i brought up Anita is she did the same argument, and make them daily. She pretends to game, and just complains.
note i highlighted swim suits for a reason, as NO ONE stated bikinis only. You can make a contribution at any point for non bikini swim wear for related jobs.
You chose to pick a fight bringing in negative topics to a lighthearted thread.
If yiu don't like or follow Anita, stop acting like you do ok?
ps you should follow your own advice, not everyone likes what you like. I never stated i wanted a bikini, i have to look at what i posted for my g/f again, but she not a big bikini fan either. Infact my g/f swim set is victorian themed using the one piece bathing suit, shorts with the moonfire hate and sandals.
Also by trolling (using the basic term) you trying to derail a thread with a hot topic adding nothing to it but a negative outlook.

Clethoria is unhappy with the designs, not trying to destroy all fan service ever. Hardly anyone jumped on the guy who said female bodies were ugly earlier and that was way more questionable, whereas Clethoria makes a couple of comments, posts a pretty sexy picture of a different way to design a swimsuit and gets accused of being BFFs with a random activist. By your constantly-mentioned 'gf' who won't even post on her own account despite multiple people asking her to show us that much respect. Riight.
Steering this back on topic, I think having a different opinion on what's attractive and reasonable isn't a bad way to take the debate further. I don't think we have any one-piece swimsuits at all (I'm a guy, so maybe I'm wrong). The MNK design resembles what you can achieve with the Elezen female hempen set only reworked as a swimsuit, so I rather like the idea of that; it's a different kind of playful swimwear. The DRG one definitely veers further into fan service territory.
I don't really like the standard sexy black bikini that currently exists in the game as the top doesn't really look plausible on all body types, so I do think more variety would be good. I accept that my opinion is not all that important since I won't be wearing the ladies' versions anyway, however![]()
When I look at this, all I see is a bunch of girls having fun. Except the one on the far left who has no date, or had it stolen from heart-signing girl on the right.
You do have a right to opinion. Of course you do, and I respect that. So allow me to express mine: Seeing clothing that covers very little as sexual and/or objectifying is a very narrow-minded and antiquated view to have this day and age. Every player in this game has a canvas to work with that is otherwise known as their character. So each of us is an artist in a sense with how we make them look. The show your 'insert race" threads are long running, and still active for a reason.
It doesn't have to be sexual or objectifying. It's the viewer themselves that make it this way.
Fair point. My views on "sexy" designs stem from how each garment serves its purpose, plus target audience. All these factored in, I make an assessment. Despite the presence of sex in game, I still see XIV as more conservative and anything skimpy still has an essence or flair and style to add to the purpose of the glamour. The designer likely didn't think of all this the same way I do.
Now, TERA or Blade and Soul on the other hand, perfect. Like, whoever did this could get hired on the spot for this quality of work if they got to the right person. Just, not for XIV.
