We get custom matches in dutyfinder. Custom matches do not have chat restrictions in feast.
You can still play premade/groupqueue with voice chat, I think it is a better experience anyway.

Why would I boycott it when it's my only chance to get the mount?
Covered that already. To be fair: If this season is your chance to get the mount, or whatever possible reward you desire, go for it. Don't let anyone stop you. But also ask yourself what's more important; that one single reward you want, or finally being heard and having an overall better Feast experience? That's not my call to make for anyone other than myself. And I personally don't care to compete under the conditions they've set, and certainly not for those rewards. When they wake up and take us seriously on the chat restriction, the reporting of OBVIOUS cheaters and wintraders, and proper balancing, I'll be happy to compete again. Til then, if I absolutely want to play Feast matches, I can always arrange custom matches with friends.

wait so premades can still chat? I thought that was the whole deal about this lol.
No, what he means is if you set up a Custom Match with friends/players you know, you can still use chat normally. I would assume this is because you would likely be with people you know, thus less prone to say anything terrible. Solo and Light Party queues for 8v8 and ranked Feast still don't allow you to chat by any other means than the limited Quick Chat system.
