With the increased level cap overall, I don't see too much harm in this. Although free trial accounts with no limit on duration and a max level of 35 seem almost made to use for Shard/Crystal bots.

Granted the free trial characters are limited in the things that they can/cannot do and obviously are pinned down in ARR areas, but still, this seems to offer a very easy way for RMT to farm lower level mats (up to lvl 35) with zero cost or consequence when their bot is removed.

I must agree, that was one of the first thoughts that I had as well, and it's one I very much dislike too.

They could try to farm but they won't be able to do anything with the mats unless they actually subscribe.

Users will not be able to trade items with other players during the Free Trial.

I hate breaking it to you but most RMT's have full accounts and not only on this game but on plenty others. Even a ban is not going to stop that, but it has nothing to do with the trial itself or the fear of having lower item mats floating around the MB.

Thank you, I wasn't sure about that, and with the other changes to free accounts it was concerning, but I really appreciate the clarification.

I hate to break it to you, but I am well aware that RMT use many 'full' paid accounts. They also loose 10s of 1000s of them a month to account, not character, permabans.

The free trial pretty much just turned into FFXIV (Lite) aka f2p version that has bunch of restrictions cause you if you to remove all those restrictions upgrade to the full version. (35 cap, no MB access, no tells).

It's enough for people to experience the game without trying to rush as much in as possible within a 14 day period. Because as a brand new player the game can be confusing and even more so if you're new to MMORPG's in general. It lets people gather their bearings.

I don't mind it, it's very much in lieu with what WoW does with their trials; same restrictions and all.

It'd certainly make it easier for friends to jump in and have a feel for the game as they won't feel pressure with trying to make full use of the 14-day trial. Though I feel the lvl 35 cap is rather generous, but it'd at least have players fully experienced their class stories and have a taste for the job's. Which can certainly act as a "demo" of sorts.
