3.56 MSQ Discussion (SPOILERS)

It was all rather underwhelming. The lack of acknowledgement of the nuances and moral greyness involved in going to war with Garlemald is bitterly disappointing. Especially considering Regula's situation and the intriguing pages devoted to the Garleans in the lore book that paint a much more complicated picture of a misunderstood people who came to their current point out of necessity and a misguided desire to bring order and stability at any cost. The Ala Mhigans, meanwhile, only ever brought strife and war because they wanted to fight and cause trouble - they weren't defending themselves. They sought to conquer for the sake of conquering. At least the Garleans, for all their flaws, have a reason for trying to do so.

I was expecting a new trial : Shinryu NM and EX, but we got instead a solo fight.
The fight between Omega and the dragon was cool, but that's all. The last story of Realm Reborn was far better for me

The Omega/Shinryu battle is there to set up the 4.0 raid series instead of having it come mostly out of nowhere like Alexander.

They did things the way they did to counter complaints about 2.5 and 2.55.

There were some things that I liked and others that felt a bit underwhelming. I knew it would not be like 2.55, because lets be honest, nobody saw the events that was going to happen in 2.55 comming. Personaly, I felt that 3.56 would have been better, if the player did not know that we were going to Doma or that we would get Samurai in Stormblood.

What I liked:

- Gosetsu is awsome, I realy liked him and he made an impact the moment he was introduced. I dont know if he is a new clan for the Roegadyn, a product of two different races or Hyur with a Roegadyn body.
- The cutscene where you see O and S fighting was pretty epic.
- The new Scion outfit.

What I did not like:

- Pacing felt weird, I think both 3.5 and 3.56 should have been released at the same time.
- The whole Lyse reveal was something majority of the playerbase already guessed.
- The fact that we already knew about Samurai and Doma, lessened the reveal of Gosetsu and the fact that Doma is going to take a big part in Stormblood.

I was here sitting there wondering so when is silvertear going to come up? They said we would learn about in 3.x so they pretty much lied.

Thinking the same. Perhaps it was meant to be part of the already short and rushed warrior of darkness arc?

......I'm glad HW is over.
From the way the Uldah situation was handled, to the Warring triad story and how characters were disposed of quite easily, (and without impact....the WT story hasn't impacted anything really)

The story has been diabolical in my opinion. This patch was just a way for us to re-sub, the story almost seemed like complete filler, there were no trials at all no nabriales, no steps, no epic ness and nothing to tide us over until SB.

I expected a grand finale!

No final battle (Did they got tired to make one because of shitstorm after 1st Steps of Fate was a HUGE fail?
People like me still hate this trail!

I thin it was rushed too but I think there are reasons to that
First we must acknowledge the feedback concerning the 2.x story arc and the feeling of overwhelming ppl feel when compleing 2.0 main scenarioin and the 100 quests they need to do just to unlock HW content, we saw that SE trended to make shorter quests after the 3.0 scenario because of those feedbacks
As for the second point, which honestly it's a personal one and as such less impactful, I think that the real ending to the HW expansion was 3.3 MSQ, with the end of the dragonsong arc, to me 3.4-3.5 were in a way fillers to get us going and I say that without wanting to diminish the effort made to create those stories, and in a way I appreaciated the pacing of the post HW stories better than ARR ones as honestly the ul'dahn revolution kinda dragged along in the sidelines.
That said in the end I feel the need to press on just like what I felt in the ending of 2.55

They made a mistake splitting up the story content, imo. There simply wasn't enough to warrant the delay, which makes it feel more like a way to ensure we stay subbed than be a meaningful expansion of the content. Still, I did enjoy what was there and Nero was a hoot.

Considering how poorly Steps of Faith went, I'm in no way surprised they went for a solo instance lest we run into a similar issue of people refusing to stay.
