I always thought the 300 > 150 nerf to umbrite price should have been 300 > 50. Sand has always been nothing if you do gathering. I got 12 sand from a single run of Diadem. Getting an equal amount of umbrite, even after nerf, would still take me a couple days of roulettes and other battle content. The only way umbrite can be burned through relatively fast is having a continuous chain of new player bonuses, which you can't be guaranteed on having unless you're lucky enough to have a new player friend who is willing to do all their lv60 content first runs with you.

The Umbrite step is nothing compared to the original 210 step. 27,000 law & 27,000 poetics on top of 5 million gil to get the crafted items? Yeah...I'll take 20,000-24,000 lore over that. Which has since been cut in half to 12,000 lore tops. 12,000 Lore? That's nothing.

I don't agree. Wasnt that the step with the unidentifiable items? You could get those through dalies, maps, seals or tomes. It was pretty damn quick if you used all the options. Plus if you were a crafter or had access to crafters it was pretty cheap.

Id take all those options over just lore.

    Sand is easy as hell.

    1. Accept a Large-scale Temple Leve of your choice.
    2. Fly to region of location of said Large-scale Temple Leve.
    3. If you have at least 10 Leve Allotments, initiate the Large-scale Temple Leve and look for a Treasure Chest in the vicinity.
    4. About 33% of the time, a chest will spawn, which contains 5 Amber-incased Vilekins.
    5. Once you open the chest, or if no chest spawns, "Abandon" the leve.
    6. See 3
    7. Trade 1 Amber-incased Vilekin for 1 Crystal Sand.

So if you don't use your leves for anything, you could burn 100 leves and walk away with 30+ sands easily.

Crystal Sands? That killed me. All the "nerf" did for sands was add the option to earn them via Unidentifiable items. Know what that do to me? Every day I would log, try to do my roulettes. Then I would do the top tier of every single Beast Tribe to get tokens, with 3 of those I bought one unidentifiable item. x4 I got the set needed to get ONE Sand. That, and the tomes I got from roulettes, plus dumping any gear I got from these runs for seals to get some moonstones.
    You can also spam leves

Actually the light farming grind is much worse than the umbrite phase IMO. Especially for people who dont do content if it has a light bonus. Or the people who spam A1S when it giving out robust and not sturdy.

    Honestly, after the nerf I had too many umbrites and it was the other stuff I had trouble getting... >>;

yup, i could've gotten enough umbrites to do 3 weapons (i spent the lore for the 3rd one to level up desynthesis instead).

the Light portion is so much more restrictive.

I got all of mine just by doing stuff I'd be doing anyway. This "must farm all the things" approach is what burns people out. The animas can be quite fun if you just think of them as something you're getting alongside everything else, not as your primary reason for doing X.

If its any consolation you can get 10 of them a week from the weekly quest, and like a few a day just from doing your roulettes and the daily quest for it. You only need 50 of them, the step is extremely easy. You are genuinely past the hard part now.
