Perhaps the people with the ability to program can make changes then. You're constantly taking a stance that "this is how it works, end of story". The whole point of making these requests is to get change.![]()
But the animation only takes up about half the time of each synth in the batch. Your character will spin their spinning wheel, or make a couple blows with their hammer, or whatever, and then will sit there motionless for a second or two before doing it again. It would impose a limit on how much they could speed it up without changing that animation (or as you mentioned taking another approach like multiple items in the output), but there is some room for speeding it up even without those changes.

While there are plenty of other features affected by things like latency, I'm sure none of SE's devs would have ever tried claiming that it affects features like this one that don't involve communication with the client, since that's what latency is: the time it takes to communicate with the client.
And the server polling thing is even farther out of left field, since that doesn't even pertain to the speed of actions, but to the amount of data each character needs. It was one of the things that made increasing inventory space difficult, but doesn't pertain at all to quick synth, which isn't changing the size of your character data.
It sounds like you're just throwing around terms at random from completely different contexts and trying to convince people they're why this particular feature wouldn't work. I can't off hand think of any other reason for doing that besides trolling.
Anything is possible IF they choose to rework a system and I fully agree, quick synthesis is not quick...at all.
It is convenient...but not quick. I loved my chefs hat in wow to rack out hundreds of meals in record time
I'm thankful we have quick synth here!!! The convenience of mass producing IS appreciated! but please don't ever call it quick, it is not.
♥ MORE HIGH HEELS + INSTANCED HOUSING! ♥!
I take that stance because that *IS* how it works. The FFXIV engine is the best MMO engine that SE currently have, therefore any limitations cannot be overcome without a system rewrite. Such things take years & manpower that would, effectively, take the entire development team away from developing *any* more FFXIV content.
I'd love all the things that are currently limited by software but the fact is it's not like just writing a few new lines of code. Some of the requests are how the system *works*, the whole thing would need to be rewritten from the ground up to handle them.
Look at it this way. Asking for a picture to be put on a website so you can view it on your PC is one thing. Asking them to do it & make it so you can view it on your calculator is a different matter!
And again we know how it functions now. Unless you have access to the code yourself, you don't know they can't tweak certain things. It does no harm in asking or showing support for a feature so they can see this is something we would like them to devote time into attempting to make possible. If the community doesn't back the idea or they revisit an issue and find it's still not something in their skillset or something that can be accomplished within their time restrictions so be it.I take that stance because that *IS* how it works. It's pointless to continue with this further. The facts have been provided to you but you continue to disregard them in order to forward your own demands. No wonder the developers have such a jaded view of the playerbase.
From some of the things you've said, it would seem that SE is just absolutely horrible at programming or something. I have never experienced in any other MMOs but the ones made by SE people saying "the engine can't handle that" or something along those lines.
What gives?
They won't change it, mostly because it doesn't need changing. It's purposely the way it is to throttle the speed in which new items are brought to the server. If you think 8 minutes isn't quick for a full stack of synths, then you haven't made of full stack of two or three star mats at HQ lol
