If you are unwilling to put forth the effort, then you don't deserve to be the best or have the best, period.By "encouraging people to take part in your content" you mean removing progression for less skilled/commited players. You think that the only way to progress your character should be in YOUR content (muh raids). You complained over and over about how the Syrcus Tower, Hunts, Zodiac quests, Diadem and etc allowed the "scrubs" to progress their characters to your level.
What you want is a game like WoW where you have 4 times the damage of a non-raiding player due to set bonuses and overpowered trinkets, ruining the balance of every other content in the process and making it almost impossible to get into a group mid tier because "meaningful progression" means that nobody can catch up. You made Gordias become a thing and that did more damage than anything else in the game, you seem to forget that. You want the devs to develop content for the 1% and then force everyone on it, expecting that everyone will just eat that instead of simply quitting. Just give up already. If I was Yoshida I'd be tired of this crap too.
Not only that, he is fundamentally wrong. Videogames are supposed to be fun and rewarding. This game is lacking in one of those areas.
After reading over every post in this thread, through all pages currently up, the only thing I can discern is that far too many players are acting like petulant children. We're suppose to be a community of players brought together through a love of Final Fantasy. Instead, people are at one another's throats over the dumbest of things.
Is the game perfect? Of course not. There is no such thing. That's why it's a living world. It's always going to be under constant change and development. Some changes will work, some won't. Some will fix old issues, some will create new ones. What we're suppose to do is give constructive criticism that the Dev's can listen to and reply to....but too many of us don't do that. Instead we bark, and we yell and we act spoiled, entitled. "How DARE they make mistakes!" "FIX THIS NOW!!" Instead of acting selfish, we should all just be thankful we even have a XIV to play in the first place.
They give up so much of their own lives just for us to have Hydaelyn to run about in. The least we can do is appreciate that. They could just abandon it entirely and shut it all down. Its' almost what we deserve for acting the way we do towards both the Developers and each other.
In regards to this whole civil war between "Casuals and Elites", it's become redundant. I'm one of those "Lazy Casuals" one of the previous posters referred to. I'm not here yelling about some new, all powerful weapon, begging to be on the same par as them. I take my time and I enjoy my life in Eorzea. IF there is something I really want, I DO work for it, but I am just not one of those who is so professional in how I play my character that I can't stop and enjoy the scenery, or just enjoy being IG for the sake of being there. I have the friends and family I have now thanks to this wonderful world we exist in together.
That said, I respect the skills of those more devoted to intense hardcore adventuring. Enjoy that weapon, you earned it. There's no need to insult those who aren't "at your level" though. Not every casual demands something for nothing. MANY of us just have our own way of enjoying the world. Just as many of us respect the Elites for what they are capable of. It's really all a matter of "to each his own." I don't think I deserve any less respect just because I'm a casual. I'm certainly NOT lazy. I work my butt off for those in my FC Family. I do everything I can for them and I'm glad they do the same for me. My FC is full of both Casuals and Elites. We don't see each other as one type or another. We're just one family, surviving together in the same world. As it should be.
Honestly, all this in fighting is just so pointless. Yoshi-P and his team work hard. Not everything they do is going to work all the time, but they still get up, despite the pettiness, the bickering, the whining, and they keep giving us more XIV. For that, I applaud them. Personally, I think too many have lost sight of what XIV's about...and that's the real shame.
Sorry for the long post. I don't reply here often. I just felt for once, I needed to get my thoughts out.

The suspense is killing me!
Is it not fun, or is it not rewarding?
Because everyone knows that Cactaur is hardcore baby!
Just thinking about it gets me on pins and needles.
Which is funny because everyone that unsubbed over the i280 weapons is now on the forums to do their daily posts roulette.
This is the new FFXIV.

What if it wasn't about casual vs. hardcore, but a matter of principle? If the lazy are gonna be given better rewards than those who try, then what is the point of trying?
Why should I bother even playing the raids if I can play dead in a fate and get better stuff? It can't be for fun because Alexander Savage has been the opposite of that from start to finish. Why bother doing the relic when not only was the grind completely dull until the final two steps, but Longinus ended up being way better looking then Areadbhar?
If I wanted an endgame controlled by RNG, I'd still be playing Destiny
Maybe it's time for you to enjoy another game until SB comes up? No point in playing a game that you don't enjoy.Consider the following, memester:
