That is the issue. Not so much it will be replaced, but more so it got replaced in 9 days. You are just teasing people "Ohh look a better weapon you can't have despite all the work you put in getting that relic"Haha the drama! It's cute. <3
So many of the people who are defending il280 weapons seem angrier than the people who don't like them.
I think some people expected the ilv275 to last till the expansion. Of course some of us knew that they wouldn't last forever... since we've been around for awhile. I suppose we just didn't expect relic to last only 9 days before becoming second best again. xDDD
It's still a trophy. The Glass Pumpkin and Firey eye form PoD isn't any less impressive for not having godly stats attached to it.
That's big number syndrome pulling the wool over your eyes. Nothing takes away from the fact that you cleared the content before Stormblood hit.
The stats don't matter. Obsessing over them just seems petty considering the reset is so close. And the argument that this somehow breaks an imagined mold on how loot should work comes off as presuming and haughty - and ignores the long standing desire for many players, including endgames, to have continued progression.
There's no way to garantee you can get this weapon in a reasonable amount of time. Odds are you won't, and if you do, it's probably not for the right job. And even then, it may have crap substats.
It's a shiny reward to entice you to try. While the real point of Diadem is to get i265 gear for side jobs, materia, minions, music, and occupy your playtime for a few months. It even gives DoL something to do.
It only invalidates your work at relic/raid weapons when you actually get it and replace them. Odds are good that that won't happen unless you throw so much volume of effort at it that eventually you get lucky.
The funny thing is that as soon as one of these salty complainers gets a Coven weapon, they'll change their tune 180 degrees and spout off how awesome it was that SE added an i280 weapon. They'll probably glamor it with their raid or relic wespon too.

The sole reason I made an anima was because I expected it, like the relic before, to be BiS from completion until expansion. SE gave us no reason to expect otherwise. Instead they let us have BiS for nine whole days before blindsiding us with this weapon. Yoshi's suggestion that the anima is still the most powerful because of how rare the i280s are is insulting. Rarity has no impact on strength. They knew the new Diadem was garbage and needed something big to get people in.

Every single mad person here assumed wrong.
You made an assumption.
They did something out of the ordinary.
Unsub, break your discs, and then come back with Stormblood is here.
It's only going to get worse.
The forums have turned into the most confusing rendition of Horton hears a Who.

They did something unusual without any warning. Nothing was ever said that suggested this would happen. And we know why. Originally the anima was supposed to end the same way as relic. Then they realized their new Diadem is garbage and had to quickly come up with a big enough carrot to actually bait people into it.You assumed wrong.

I already unsubbed but no, after this slap in the face, I won't be back for Stormblood. I guess that's the assumption, though. Yoshi-P will see all the unsubs, but just assume we'll all be back. That assumption will end up the same as our assuming the anima would be BiS from completion to SB.

In all seriousness in 3 months all your works and the i280 wepon Wil be replaced by a green dungon wepon anyway soooo why complain about it its a fact with mmos nothing stays viable forever and your rellic / Alex wepons or zev ex wepons are still relent those are all top tier wepons at this point and in all honesty I've done 10 diadem runs and not one person has won a wepon soooo again why complain
