Don't you think the best weapons in the game that are better than what we have now will be coming in Stormblood? My opinion you are quitting over ridiculous reason when better stuff will be released in the expansion.

Well you could save 3 months sub fee if you unsub and wait until then and not play slot machine I guess. Everything you do now is going to be mostly meaningless right if all the good stuff is going to be in SB?
Well I suppose that would be one way to look at it, but as others have said Anima still is the best weapon.
By that token, why would I invest work into Stormblood when there's probably another expansion over the horizon that will invalidate all the work in there ? Hmm ??
At the moment we are in 'endgame' mode -- people have worked for their gears over the various patch cycles, cleared their content and in general are sitting on feelings of satisfaction what they have achieved and obtained through working for it. Raids have been completed, incredible amounts of time, effort and resources have been poured into anima weapons and there's this sense of relief "we've got that all sortted, now we can start ticking off our Heavensward bucket lists while we build up towards the new expansion"
And then comes Diadem. Which, in one shot, for ridiculously low entry/skill/effort requirements, awards (albeit on a slim chance) something better than a population majority has spent the ENTIRE patch cycle working for.
And it mystifies you why people are upset ?
An as an added insult to injury, Yoshi-P ambles in and proclaims it not to be a big deal. The mind absolutely boggles.

Exactly. Why play the game at all if you're just gonna quit because something better came out than the weapon you already have? OP is doing herself a favor by quitting, cause she probably doesn't know how MMO's work.
I understand why she is upset, I was upset over it too. But its not nearly that bad of a scenario to make me quit, especially when we knew that eventually, our weapons would have been outgeared anyway. If this is enough to make you quit, then you should quit.
What do people think this game is?
Nothing has value.
People beat Savage in 250 crafted gear. You can get that day 1.
You can quit for 4 years, come back, do story and get crafted gear. Grats, you can beat every fight now.
People like you still don't get it. It's not so much about the weapon's strength that bothers people, it's more about the principle that SE is going with. What's to stop them from doing something like this again in Stormblood, especially if people are so nonchalant about it or even agreeing with the path SE is taking?

If you accept it now, you'll have to accept it next time it happens. You know, like Atma, that mess of a 210 step, Gordias-level raid balancing, and so on. I'm not going to unsub personally, but don't think for a moment I'm okay with this development. Diadem couldn't stand on its own, so they had to put a big carrot on a stick to get people to move toward it. . . But if you look past the carrot, and look past Diadem, that's a pretty dark road.
@Sicno: It's a shame to see you go. It seems like you were really vested in the game, and it sucks that timing really bit you in the ass (I happen to be the king of bad timing myself). If anything, take an extended break and perhaps see what Stormblood has to offer when the time comes. Don't expect a complete reinvention of the wheel there, but give it a chance. If you still see reason to move on after, you'll get no complain or sarcasm from me.

Yeah, I was really vested into this game, put a lot of time and effort into playing it, always tried to get people to play it or to get back to it, always supporting fellow players in whatever activities they were into. I started playing a year after launch, so for a long time I was behind and there was so much I wanted to do in the game, now that I finally managed to catch up and get to the top I get slapped so hard and feel so betrayed. I was waiting for today's panel to see if maybe they were aware that this whole diadem mess may have been a mistake, and maybe they had an announcement of some adjustments or something else coming soon (like an option to upgrade raid gear/weapons), but nothing, the lottery excuse Yoshi gave is insulting. As much as I love the game as a whole I don't want to support them anymore because of this and other terrible decisions they've made lately. It's painful for me, I'm still not sure what I want to do, but I think at the very least I need a break from the game.@Sicno: It's a shame to see you go.
