I believe the actual complaint is that OP does the two objectives, then either idles for the emergency mission or leaves to re-queue again (or not). Basically, the FATES don't matter outside of the evaluation required for the objectives, and it is yet another Diadem 2.0 complaint thread, after the 30,000,000 that were posted yesterday.

Well, when the playerbase doesn't like something, the one thing they at least do right is speak up about it. Some do it better or more concisely than others, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease. And if not for people doing that, we wouldn't have over half the nice QoL things we've gotten all along.

So, on topic, it's disappointing that some players simply afk to wait for the big event, but such is the possibility in the "free" system of the Diadem. I've said this many times, but give players a choice to climb a mountain for a Shiny Reward, or walk the trail for the Shiny Reward and you won't find many climbers. I personally don't condone it, but I'm not in a position to do much about it, so my concerns fall elsewhere.
