This is something I kind of expect will happen when we move over to the new server system next year. Just waiting for the Lodestone profiles to update can take almost an entire day in some cases (remember waiting for swimsuits to be counted?), and my guess is that when databases are rebuilt and the new server structure is in place, it will allow for the Lodestone to accurately reflect what we were wearing (just like WoW and FFXI know) and then generate a portrait.

Until that time though, I won't hold my breath for anything better than what we already have. In the meantime, I'll just hope for being able to select from the unlocked portraits already on the Lodestone, or maybe for some specific generic ones like the OP's suggestion for GC uniforms.

The avatar is pulled randomly from the pool of backgrounds you have unlocked each time someone views a given page.

Eh, either way it doesn't matter to me. It's all aesthetics. All I care about really is having the Twin Adder banner in my background. Although, it would be nice if I could at least wear some sort of armor as a top so I don't have to look like this on the forums:

That's something I've been thinking about actually. I don't care about the nudity part, I just think most people look stupid in undies. At least male midlanders do. Just make it so we all wear a Dalmatica or some shit, so I can stop looking so gay.

The weird thing with avatars is it says if you have a custom avatar it will be displayed but there is no upload option for a custom avatar...
