Soo... apparently Diadem has i280 weapons with higher WD than alexandrian/anima lux

I am a bit confused. It's very bizarre to me that they would release a new BiS weapon before even making the Gobdip for Shire weapons available outside of Savage Raiding, before unlocking the loot restriction on Savage, and so soon after the conclusion of the Relic quest.

This was not even supposed to happen. Remember: Diadem got delayed due to bugs, this i280 weapon was supposed to arrive at the same time as the Relic's victory lap. For all I see: they never meant the i275 relic to be BiS for any period of time. The fact that it was for 2 weeks was an accident.

Whether or not adding this i280 weapon in the game was a good idea, I don't understand how SE was so easily able to make this decision. Did they really not stop and think about what the player base's opinion might have been? is that not a consideration for them?

Either SE has too much faith in the community that we will blindly accept any thing they add to this game, or they just don't care what we think.

Because when raiding, or getting relic, the weapon is there, at the end of the tunnel. There's not a chance that it may be there - It will be.

Even after reading all of the salt in this thread, I still don't care. People acting like someone walked up and punched them in the face need to get over themselves. Its a 4x RNG weapon, at the end of an expansion. Its there for those who care to try and get one. If you don't like it, simply dont do it. But what will really happen is all those people who value dps over anything else will put up PFs requiring it. Cuz thats what our side of the world does.

People here really aren't grasping how hard it's going to be to actually get this weapon. This weapon does not "invalidate" your 275 relic. I can almost guarantee within the next couple of months I will see a post on here that reads "Make it Easier to get the ilvl280 Diadem Weapons waaaaah". I do not expect to get this weapon and I will continue to work on my relic. In all honesty the relic is a glamour item. That's all it has ever been. It always reaches a point where it has the highest I'll then they add something new. They just added the new item fairly quickly this time around. Is it unprecedented? Yea sure. Should people be threatening to leave the game over it? Nah.

You are talking as if the Anima was a good glamour. Anima weapon looks bad compared to Relic. Diadem is just a slap in the face to people that grinded for Anima. Not only they get an ugly weapon, but it's not even the best anymore.

I'm not sure how much this will help but on reddit the mods handling the ffxiv subreddit will be at PAX East and they made a poll so they could give some feedback on the addition of 280 weapons in diadem. I thought I would put it on this forum as well. So if you really want your feelings heard then put a vote in.

The point is that this weapons came shortly after the 275 relic step and should've been in the same patch if they wouldn't have found a bug in diadem. So planned on giving it out to the same time and if it is nearly impossible to get the 280 weapons, perfect because its the strongest weapon in the game at the moment and shouldn't be easier to get then a relic or savage weapon.

I personally plan to continue my relic progression. My *ONLY* wish? That come Stormblood we could just continue upgrading it as we leveled, not have to wait until lvl 70 to exchange it for the next relic line (and I don't care if someone else can start their lvl 70 relic without having this one.)

It's really not though. I agree with Lucki that you don't really understand the RNG and pure luck it's going to take to get a 280 weapon, let alone one with desired stats.
