Probably stupid idea: Separate the FC workshop from housing ?

So yeah I got thinking - given that the workshop is the place that lets FC's exclusively access some content (read: Diadem Hard - and possibly another underwater themed zone in 4.x) and get special goodies/materials -- and that there's a perennial shortage of housing plots ....

why not separate the airship portion of the workshop from the FC house ?

Like, a separate 'factory' building in a housing ward, like the apartment block -- except the rooms are workshops/hangars and access is instanced/limited by FC tag

Oh I agree there should be more FC specific stuff -- I just think it's a really bad idea to gate it behind an incredibly limited resource like the current housing system.
That's why I suggested having an FC workshop building for those FC's unlucky enough to have missed out on the latest housing rush to build up their stuff.

He's not asking for non-FC workshops, he's asking for non-housing workshops. Basically, like a garage that takes you to a garage instanced for your free company. I can get behind this idea.

I am in two minds about this. There are pros and cons and I am unsure which side of the fence to sit on with this one, however I'm leaning more towards the "no" side..

I don't like the idea of removing the access to the FC workshop from the house. If anything just add a house-less access, but leave the house-access option there. Just allow FCs that don't have a house to access a generic one in a housing ward / door next to the GC (similar to our personal Barracks.) etc..

Pro
- Considering the current housing system is extremely limited, there are many FCs that are locked out of this feature.

Cons
- Reduces the usefulness of an FC buying a house.
- Allows people to effectively create "shell" FCs on their alts, and create airships for their own private use (for exploration etc). The requirement of owning a house simply adds another barrier for people to do this.


As for Diadem, we don't truly know what it's going to be like until tomorrow.. I would realistically wait for tomorrow to check it out, and see what we can/can't do with it.. It got reworked for a reason so perhaps the accessibility has changed as well.

I understand what he is asking for but whats the point joining an FC. With this idea the difference between a linkshell and an FC is a few buffs and a house.

Are you...sure you understand? You'd still need an FC to use the workshop with the idea he's proposed. His problem is with the limited housing it also limits people who are even able to use the airship garage feature in the first place.

Or, add new housing wards but FC restricted, most of the houses we've got in our ward are private houses, preventing FC from getting access to the workshop and thus the features coming with it :/

Bro... you are missing the point.

Only FC Members who have the rights to take care of airships would be able to enter instanced hangar in Lanvender/Mist/Goblet and take care of their FCs airships.
