Ozma is a fight that you can wipe the entire raid if you don't know what your doing why couldn't you spend a few seconds and at least explain meteors the rest of the fight its not really a big deal as you always have 1-2 people who die to stuff anyways and you can clear no problem

Ha, that would be hilarious. See how many people still want to swag about in a crown if they can't screw other players over.
That said, it's not always the kicker that's in the wrong, often the kicked player is kicked because they are being abusive, or trolling, or standing around autoattacking trying to scrounge a free carry; and sometimes someone just gets disconnected and can't get back in and you have to remove them so you can find a replacement to continue.

Soon, people will see that crown and automatically assume he/she is an elitist douche. That's where it's headed.

Honestly I already see a crown and assume "this is the worst player in the party". I know there are mentors out there that know their stuff and are genuinely helpful, but at this point I think most players that unlock mentor status just do it so they can have a crown by their name or grind mentor roulette for the rewards.

No one who has been a mentor would say something like this though so I am assuming you don't do Mentoring for battle content?

Your idea here would be perfect if all "new players" were saint-like and did no wrong. Unfortunately "new players", just like "Mentors", share the fact they are all human beings behind a computer who definitely aren't saints and are definitely capable of committing wrongs.

Yes, a mentor should never kick a new player for wrong reasons....BUT, new players aren't automatically exempt from being vote kicked if they are harassing/insulting others. A mentor has full right and responsibility to kick someone, new player or not, if they are harassing/insulting someone in chat. Verbal harassment or trolling should never be tolerated.

There are also other valid reasons like AFK with no word to the group and doesn't come back or a new player who disconnects and doesn't come back online.

I mean I've been in dungeon runs where we had 3 mentors and a new player. If the new player happen to lose connection and not come back we'd all be unable to kick them, or if they AFK'd and never came back we'd not be able to remove them either to continue the content. I mean AFK and disconnects happen; most people wait a bit, but eventually its clear they aren't coming back so what do we do then if we can't vote kick? One of us would have to leave first and take a DF penalty and won't be able to queue for 30 minutes and the other two would have to requeue and start over.

This just wouldn't work.

In OP's situation yeah that mentor should not have kicked that new player at all, but technically the fact he had a mentor crown on is immaterial to the vote kick aspect of the situation. A rude player will be a rude player no matter if they are a mentor or not so even if he wasn't wearing the mentor crown he still would have kicked OP's friend. So the mentor crown on makes no difference except that he isn't upholding proper mentoring ideals; which the only thing you can do is report him for it.

So messing with what mentors can access, like the vote kick system, because of a rude player who would be rude even if he wasn't a mentor...that doesn't really solve anything because he'd still just kick people when he didn't have the crown and legit mentors might get stuck in parties with new players that are offline, afk, or harassing others and be unable to do anything to fix it.

There seems to be something missing from the story. What happened in the situation? What job was your friend playing and did they cause several wipes or something?

I would have to say a lot of 'mentors' out there use the crown as a status symbol for superiority, not all mind you but a large amount do. There is also a lot of mentors out there that don't have thier crown openly showing, I don't have my mentor crown turned on because of the bad rep the 'mentors' have given to players but I still actively help players in general in areas I do know about.

People also forget they're over geared steam rolling everything and some ppl have run what ever content so many times they have it memorized. That's why I don't like doing any of the new content until I've over geared for it and even then am hesitant on doing it.

The OP said the mentor had admitted to starting the vote kick, tho without a screen shot it's debatable but I have met mentors that do what they choose with no interest in helping anyone.

As a mentor it is interesting to see how many mentors are online at any given time and how many of those mentors you never see talk in the novice network. Not to mention seeing what other mentors say and do while they have no idea you're a mentor too cause you're not displaying your crown, I've seen some great mentors with the crown and I've also seen the elitist ones that probably filter out the novice chat from their logs.

You're ridiculous, besides mentors and newcomers there is human beings, if mentors don't wanna use the novice chat that's all up to them.
You have no obligations, that's the way this system has been designed.

Most of the mentors are here for special rewards like a 2 seats pegasus.
