So I've been doing a lot of Vault runs lately and they've always gone pleasantly smooth. Until today. Tank was new to the dungeon but was doing a brilliant job, myself and the other DPS were doing well. But the healer... the entire dungeon it just felt like they weren't doing very well. Tank's health kept dropping considerably low and the healer just kept throwing up Sacred Soil to try and compensate. We barely managed through up until the final boss.

The healer just struggled horrendously to keep up with all the unavoidable AOE damage to the point where we wiped four times. Was only ever using Succor even when it was just the tank that needed healing. After the fourth wipe healer went on a massive tirade about how awful everybody was doing and if us and the tank were doing a better job we wouldn't keep wiping etc etc. Thankfully they left right after their rant. Invited a fellow healer friend to finish off and guess what? We did the final boss first try.

Seriously, as mature this community is compared to other games I've played, I've also never seen another community that tries to actively justify not even trying to improve at all as much as FFXIV.

I mean, there's being an elitist, and then there's not being a douche to everyone else you're partying with by your performance.

Why is this even a thing?

This is probably not so much of a horror-story as something that just left me totally puzzled and asking the question: Why does the system allows for that?
A friend and I went into PotD 51-60 and got paired with a puglist. When I took a closer look, the actual level of that puglist was 1 (ofc, the palace puts you on level 60). So that person basically just went from the puglist-guilde in Ul'dah to south shroud, queued for PotD and got pushed to level 60 - meaning: they got 20 skills or so dumped into their hotbar and NO idea what any of them do or how to play that class.
And fair enough, its PotD, its easy enough to solo - specially those lowlevel floors - and we got through it without any trouble, so as I said not really a horror-story.

I've heared stories about people leveling in PotD and not learning their class for that sake, but I had no idea how bad it really is... I'd expected that you at least would have to be level 50 to enter for 51+ (and it would have made more sense in my head...)

I am starting to get comfortable with the pacing and controls again while doing solo stuff, so look for me to be featured here soon in a "bad healer" story
Take a look at the stories posted here, and you may notice a trend. We don't usually post about people who are just rusty or inexperienced at their job. It's when we offer advice and the underperforming person goes off on a tirade about elitist assholes that they become something to laugh at.

So long as you earnestly try and are open to advice, you'll do fine.

Hi everyone. I just want to write here to talk about about a lovely run in Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard) that I feel is worth sharing.

So, as I'm still relatively new to the game and to tanking, I'm prone to a few errors. Anyway, myself, the healer, and the summoner are all new to the dungeon, except for the dragoon. The dungeon run goes rather smoothly as I pull the packs to be burned down, healing is wonderful and damage is flowing nicely.

We arrive at the first boss and we begin without discussing the fight in much detail. Lo' and behold, the boss kicks our butts with eight vulnerability stacks each. Great, I say to myself. So, we pop back to the boss and the dragoon pipes in with some advice about how to deal with the boss' mechanics. We all agree and proceed to begin the fight. This time it runs much more smoothly and we finish her with few problems.

Trash mobs up to the next boss, everything is running nicely as usual. We reach the next boss and I make a silly blunder of leaving the boss to sit in its power-boosting pool for too long and it gains three damage stacks. Wonderful. It gains another stack shortly after I notice my mistake and we wipe. Okay, no biggy. Let's do it again. I apologise for messing up in such a silly way and the dragoon makes no issue of it, saying that it was fine because it was my first time. Wow, usually I expected much salt and so forth, but she was totally cool about it.

Anyway, we defeat the second boss and make our way to the end of the dungeon with little issue. The final boss is defeated without a wipe- to my surprise -and we all bow to each other which I thought was lovely. The dragoon said that she knew what being new is like and it is better to be helpful. So Lisa Leonhart, if you're reading this right now, you're awesome and a good example of how more experienced players should conduct themselves when playing with newbies like myself. Thank you.

Duty finder has always been across the data center.

The new cross world party finder just allows you to make a party with people on other servers before queuing up.

    Another happy story

Just did Amdapor Keep. We had a sprout tank who said it was her first time doing the dungeon.

It went very smoothly. The summoner and the healer were just melting everything.

The tank did awesome too! She made a few first timer mistakes, but no biggie! Healer didn't hesitate to explain mechanics to her.

After the last boss, she apologized for possibly making the run difficult, but our healer gave her encouraging words and told her she did great.

    I love nice groups

Hell no it doesn't. I lived through the influx of crap players when fate grinding was real.
But then they boosted dungeon exp and things got better.
but then they added potd and it's much fakkin worse than fates.

How is it worse? Its helped a few of my friends remember how to play Jobs they've either not played, or haven't touched in a long time for one reason or another (one of which hadn't played the game in over two years. He plays MCH now). Are you sure you're not just having bad luck with encountering bad players? or am I having some decent, if not, good luck when it comes to encountering mostly good, if a little silent, players? I might post my logs of bad times, but those aren't as frequent as my good DF runs (which most of the time aren't worth mentioning as no one says a gosh darn thing. Heck, the post about me getting one shot by a tank buster because the tank wasn't in tank stance was from an otherwise good and fast Expert Roulette run).

PotD is a good thing. Removing exp gain from it removes the point in running it at all at any level below 53.

Are you only remembering bad runs? or are you really that unlucky? ... or am I just the luckiest player in FFXIV?
