This happened long time ago in 3.0 during a Neverreap run. I was tanking and didn't pull much because the dps wasn't really geared for massive pulls. The SMN told me to pull big. I pulled big, but all that the SMN did was Ruin III. No dots, no aoes, no Dreadwyrm trance. Just plain old Ruin III (and this was before the buff btw). That SMN ran out of mana quite fast and the pull lasted longer than it should. I just left the run after the first boss.

You know you are partying with a premade when you playing DPS, are the only one to die to mechanics, are still levelling so gear/DPS is not top notch but you still walk away with 3 comms. Thanks premades

After all the complaints of how easy Proto Ultima was, I certainly didn't expect 2 wipes before downing it... On two separate DS runs. 75% of the alliance would just stand in the center blue cleave and die.. Every. Single. Time.

Weekend 24 mans are a horror.

Goodness gracious. I just got out of the most aggravating Library Normal Mode I think it's possible to ever have. Sorry for the long story, but it was a mess from start to finish...

I queued as heals for mentor roulette, saw I got Library. Immediately, I notice three things: the DRK tank does not have Darkside up, the BRD does not have Wanderer's Minuet on, and the MCH does not have Gauss Barrel on. Oh nooo, I thought. But I didn't say anything because I know how people get. We pull the first pack and stop right there. Okay, the tank doesn't want to do big pulls. That's his call, I'll accept it even though we have two DPS who should have decent AOEs in the party. The BRD turned on Wanderer's Minuet, and shortly thereafter, the MCH turned on Gauss Barrel! Yay, maybe we'll get through this in decent time--then I realized nothing was dying. Just... the HP was taking a century to fall...

The MCH didn't summon his turret at all and the BRD didn't use a single AOE or DoT. Still no Darkside from the tank. I just sat there in stunned silence watching this, thinking something MUST be going on. Am I getting trolled? Finally, on the third pull of mobs, I couldn't take it anymore and asked politely if the MCH to summon his turret, which he did, thank the heavens! I remember leveling MCH; it can be realllyyy easy to forget the turret at first, I know, so I was totally understanding, even when he continued to forget it periodically as we progressed and I never brought it up again. And hey, the tank put Darkside on finally without anyone saying a word! I was so proud!

But the BRD still continued to sit there spamming Heavy Shot and Straight Shot and occasionally Empyreal Arrow. That was it. No Flaming Arrow, no Venomous Bite, no Wind Bite, zip, zilch, nada. I didn't even see the animation for Bloodletter, but I mean... he must have at least been using that... right? We're going on 17 minutes and haven't even made it to the second boss yet, so again, I very politely said, "Hey {Bard's Name}, if you want to single target, you can deal more damage by applying your DoTs to each enemy." I didn't even mention the fact that each pull was taking so long I was running out of MP between trying to make up for the missing DPS and keep the tank alive, and yet never got a Mage's Ballad or a Foe's Requiem. I thought I was exercising a ton of restraint, personally.

The BRD promptly ignores me and continues not applying DoTs or AOEing, even when we have more than four enemies. I sighed deeply to myself and bit my tongue. Finally, at about 35 minutes, we made it to the last room before the final boss. The MCH is doing his best with Bishop turret out, the tank is keeping the aggro, I'm DPSing hard to try to move things along... And the BRD is standing there, still doing nothing but Heavy Shot over and over. My patience finally snapped. I said, and I quote, "{Bard's Name}, I don't mean to be rude, but what in the world are you doing?" BRD says nothing. Tank asks who I'm talking about. MCH says something about not blowing up the chat, which... okay? I literally said nothing else.

Finally, at almost 40 minutes into the dungeon, we pull the final boss. The BRD proceeds to use the limit break at one bar. Only me and the MCH attempt the handle the lights/pads mechanic, meaning that adds are spawning left and right. The MCH dies trying to stand on a lighted pad which the BRD dropped an orb right on top of. Then the BRD finally decides to start speaking, right in the middle of the fight. Here's a screen cap of the conversation because I just couldn't believe what was going on. BRD is the red, MCH the blue:



I said more than 30 minutes, but by that time it had actually been 40... You can see the wipe happen in the screenshot, and the conversation progressed as we walked back. After listening to this inanity, I was prepared to vote kick the BRD, but the tank pulled before I could initiate it. Anddddd we wiped again, because once again only the MCH and I actively tried to deal with the mechanics. Well, the tank tried, but on this second go around, I could tell he just didn't quite grasp how to do it, since he kept moving off the pads before other people got there. By the way, I should tell you that no one in this party was new to the dungeon...

Finally, I was able to initiate the vote kick on the BRD. It went through immediately, we got a MNK, I explained the mechanics to the tank before we pulled, and sure enough, beat it in one go with no issues.

So yeah. Next time someone makes a complaint about being kicked by a mentor, I'm really going to question what they did to deserve it. There are bad mentors, I'm sure, but when this is the kind of awful we encounter daily in mentor roulette, it's no surprise some people get kicked. :T

I didn't even know it was possible to have your head this far up your own ass, but in retrospect, I should've.

Speaking of GGL, I landed in there as PLD, with a SCH who clearly wanted to make the run go faster, and thought that pulling bosses while I was explaining mechanics to the newbie would make this happen.

I feel like the next time someone intentionally pulls while I'm tanking, I'm just going to sit outside and let them wipe. They also let me die on trash mobs because they had no clue how to use their emergency heals. Maybe I should've used a cooldown, or Clemency, but having healed that dungeon plenty of times myself, as SCH, I have absolutely no pity for any other SCH who lands in there wearing a Wiping Shitty jacket.

A friend of mine is leveling his paladin currently and I normally join him on scholar for his leveling roulette - and I got a few very good reminders why I avoid dungeons most of the time by now.
Right now I just wnat to share my absolute favorite because it overshadows any other little thing.
Dusk Vigil. Level 51 dungeon. Level 60 SMN. On their relicquest. Not knowing bane. Not keeping dots up on bosses...

And I've seen a LOT of those kind of people lately - I do all my dungeons with said friend, but every run, no matter the level, we'll get at least one person that kills me a little inside - did the overall skilllevel in the playerbase really decrease THIS much?

This brightened my evening a bit. Soul of the Creator. We had a Warrior with a certain name that would remind you of Ilberd. AND he looked JUST like Ilberd! Guy kept spamming "Sloppy!" and "For Ala Mhigo!" macros. He asked at the beginning could he handle the tank LB3 at Alexander's ultimate. I said "k". So when we get to that part I'm waiting in suspense cause I usually handle the tank LB3. It gets past "5 seconds" and the guy is still spamming "For Ala Mhigo!" and "Sloppy!" macros but he didnt activate the LB3. Some people typed in chat "uh...", "uhm...". Then we wiped to the ultimate. To my surprise the group save maybe 1 or 2 people, weren't mad about it at all. Judging by the chat they all enjoyed the laugh the mate provided, myself included. We cleared on the second try. With him STILL spamming Ilberd macros XD. Mate I don't know if you meant to cause that wipe or not, but you gave me and a couple other people a good laugh, and I KNOW I needed it. Thanks. =)
