It always was in FFXI, it is in every mmo out there. Why not in ffxiv?

And, I truly hope they do get the stuff out, I think the jobs look great to. But, that is months away from when they want to start charging money, which is an issue.
for a long time in ffxi it wasnt the case, a lot of the best gear was crafted. The gods would drop a nice peice, but the real useful stuff was the abjurations, which required a crafted item. It was their way to mingle crafting and endgame, but thing to remember is crafting is a much bigger part of this game, even as they scale it back it would still be an extremely hard hit, if all those 50 levels of crafting and gathering became virtually useless.

The ifrit weapon could be better designed for mages, but at this point thats a little tricky, because its a class item, and classes dont really have defined roles yet. I mean they cant throw healing magic bonus on a conjuerer weapon, because conjurer is not a whm, though it may later have access to that skill set. In any event, id say your concerns are valid, and i think that they will solve some of them, though i cant say those are the deal breakers for me.
