it used to have a dislike button, they got rid of it. People abused the feature to perma ban people they disliked by down voting then mass reporting posts. So, many people who view the forum don't post but still might like to provide feedback on an issue or suggestion. We already have the option for people to like posts, thus providing instant (and anonymous) feedback that they support an idea. Wouldn't it be only fair for people to be able to show their lack of support in such a manner as well? It could be very interesting. Please consider and thanks for all feedback to this idea, both for and against!

That seems more like a lazy implementation or poor moderation than an actual issue with downvote buttons. That said, I'm indifferent to this addition. I prefer to engage in healthy discourse even if I disagree with a topic, rather than push a button and provide no honest feedback. If there were a guarantor that it would be used in a manner to which Reddit aspired - to hide trollish or unconstructive posts/comments - I'd like it, but as Reddit has proven no one holds the feature to that sort of personal standard and instead uses it to enforce groupthink hiveminds.
