Another Samurai DPS Hate story.....

Tank: I hate how same is a DPS Job. They should have been tank so they can be honorable samurai with real samurai armor. They're not **** wimps backstabbing their enemies in the back.

Me: You have no Honor with that kind of attitude. Besides during battlefields in wars Samurai did backstab people and the so called Samurai armor was normally only obtained by the rich nobles. Adventurers like the WoL are not rich nobles thus it suits better for the more Historical route for lesser not so rich samurai to wear less armor.

Tank: Go commit seppuku.

Me: ok!

Not my story, but it's too great not to share.

Selli and another member of our FC were doing trial roulette a couple days ago and they got Titan HM. Selli's co-healer has "Fall" as the first four letters of their name. They're nearly done the fight when poor Fall lives up to their name and falls off the arena. The whole party had a good laugh and Fall was a great sport about it, though a little embarrassed.

At level 54, BLM gets Sharpcast. Hit that, Fire, then use the Firestarter proc you get. I really really really do not understand just why so many BLMs seem to forget that Sharpcast is a skill that exists.

The problem with hardcasting Fire III is that it consumes almost twice as much MP as regular Fire, doesn't do nearly enough damage to make up the difference, and takes a full second longer to cast. There's also the fact that the Firestarter trait means that BLMs spamming Fire would get free Fire III casts that are not only free, but also cast instantly.

TL;DR: Hardcasting Fire III is bad and the only reason to do it is when your rotation is already so screwed up that hardcasting 1 more spell wouldn't hurt anyway.

Thanks I will use sharpcast then on fire now instead of thunder next time I play the job!

So, I joined a Sophia "Farm" party on my WAR.
I'll admit I'm not the greatest of tanks but I've tanked that fight before with little issue but the PLD I was paired with...
We get to the tank swap phase and he would literally not stop tanking. Stayed in Shield Oath and continued to enmity combo the tar out of Sophia. Even after Provoke, Overpower and 2 enmity combos later, I just couldn't ripe hate unless Sophia just flat out killed the PLD, which she did several times as a result (not like the PLD made it hard for her considering he always had 1-2 vulnerability stacks on him as well) After a few wipes, people are getting upset for good reason and trying to voice out what's the issue but the PLD just continues to pull as people are still discussing things out.

We eventually clear and ofc, PLD Sword and shield drop, PLD gets them and the party just dissolves afterwards.

To say I was upset is an understatement.

Midas 4. The self proclaimed main tank died, complete one-shot, to the tank buster. He used no cooldowns. Later, when we get the voltron combination of Brute Justice, and it aggros the other healer and he dies. The healer asks why it took 20 seconds to provoke, to which the main tank responds that he didn't use it at all. The healer asks the tank to pick up the mobs faster since it is his job. The tank then says "You have no right to tell me how to do my job seeing that both healers let me die." When it was pointed out that he did not use cooldowns, he then used cooldowns on the next one and still got one shot (so I really doubt his claim that he used cooldowns). When he tried to be snobby about it, it was pointed out that he had an ilvl 148 chest. The most annoying thing about him, though, was that he wanted a shaft to be able to get a body piece to boost his ilvl enough for Dun Scaith. He rolled a 98 and was a rude winner about it. I hope I never see this person again.

I had the best levelling roulette experience of my FFXIV career. Got into Gubal NM as AST and got a party with a DRK, DRG, and BRD. The DRG and BRD had qued together and were quite chatty as we loaded in. Eventually, the DRK and I join in their conversation, mostly just joking around and engaging in general japery, sometimes at the expense of each other lol we talked so much that we wiped on the first boss. Absolute disaster. Second try, we focused a bit more and got through it, but the dps was slow. I mean REAL slow. I checked the time after the first boss and we'd already been in there for 20+ minutes. What followed was the best instance of social interaction between strangers that I've ever been apart of in this game. We all chatted away for the rest of the run like we were old friends, not even caring at how abysmally slow we were going. I wasn't dps'ing much, the two dps friends were typing away most of the time, and the tank wasnt even in Darkside. But none of us cared. We all just enjoyed each other's company. By the time we finished, we were around the 55 minute mark, and we all just stood around the exit for a few more minutes, not wanting to leave. It was more than a little sad because you don't meet those kind of people in DF very often. I thanked them and told them that it was the best levelling roulette I ever qued for. They agreed and the DRG said something that I've never heard a rando say to another player in this game before. "I really appreciate you guys," he told us. It might not seem like a big deal, but it was to me. For once, I played the game without caring about how efficiently the dungeon was going, or thinking about how many more pieces of umbrite I needed to grind for afterwards. For once, the people I was playing with were far more entertaining than any dungeon, raid, or primal. It was a rare DF gem that doesn't come around often enough. To those three players, the DRG, BRD, and DRK, you three made my day and I'm glad I could make yours as well. I cross my fingers that we meet again in DF someday. Stay classy.

This reminds me of the time that I queued as PLD, back when I still mained the job during 3.1, for EX roulette, and got Fractal Continuum. The party I got was wonderful, SMN, BLM and WHM, not only because they were great players but because they were cool peeps too. They seemed to be together, so I asked what was their server. Turned out the four of us were in Hyperion.

To this day, we all chat outside of the game, and even call each other by our names. Next time I visit the US I might pay two of them a visit and meet their baby son . Amazing things come from Duty Finder sometimes.

You're so right. I see a lot of people talking about how toxic or quiet the community is. It's really refreshing to have these experiences. It reminds us that we're actually people behind our characters. Nice to see that I'm not the only one to experience this ^_^
