Thats really a bit extreme. Im not saying you can ignore your role This issue really isnt about that. That comment is completeky out of context, I am talking here about healers wishing to heal and not being pressured to dps. Good though if you want to do that but Im not going to reply to it respect your views but Im fed up of repeating stuff, This really is about opposing sides each having strong views for and against. Im not here just to butt heads. Got more to do with my time thank you. I apologise if I came across wrong or if there was misunderstandig I meant It politely

Take the dealing damage out of the healers' equation and you'll see a massive drop out regarding that role.
I dont think people that love healing will ever stop wanting to. The dpsers may drop out but Im guessing most will follow what the role requires. I know tons of people that love healing, and not dps, same as the other way round. Thats just the way things are, Maybe many people will start to heal if they dont like dpsing. Some have said they gave up healing and went dps if they have to do it anyway. Who knows anyway.
I've picked CNJ three times (Both CB(?) and Live) and I love playing CNJ/WHM but I couldn't play it anymore if I could no longer do DPS. Why? Because FFXIV has a very, very low requirement for healing, like the lowest I have seen in an MMORPG to date. Without DPS I would say half or more of the time is basically idle time which honestly I can not see that amount of idle time being fun for anyone unless they have some other source of entertainment or have a fear of failure. This is one of the reasons that if I see my co-healing only healing in 24 man I will go full DPS mode so they are actually challenged and engaged by the content that unless the DPS and Tanks are trying to kill themselves, could be solo healed.
PvP restricted the use of Cleric Stance for healers for "balance" reasons which I think makes it a bit more boring but healing in PvP is more involved because there is always someone taking massive amounts of damage so you are more often then not, non-stop healing.
Yes and from what I can tell many healers just want more to do as healer and alot of people dont like dpsing but do it because theres nothing else to do, So if fights were more healing intensive would you still drop out?I've picked CNJ three times (Both CB(?) and Live) and I love playing CNJ/WHM but I couldn't play it anymore if I could no longer do DPS. I guarantee you if fights are more healing intensive, those pro DPS healers will have no problem adjusting to it.
Those "I can't balance 2 jobs at once!! Stance dancing is too hard!!" healers on the other hand....time to find a different job.
That's exactly how I picture it going too. If you can't heal well enough to have time to dps, why do you think you can heal if the required healing doesn't give time to dps?
One little thing I do (and some would probably frown upon it) is that when I'm playing a Healer, I will see how my party does with the first few pulls to determine if I want to commit to stance dance. I'll still DPS, but just not be in CS. It's horrible when the Tank is full health, you throw on CS (5 sec cool down keep in mind), and the Tank has pulled too much and that HP bar just DROPS. It's like ughhhhh, c'mon CS hurry up! Then when you finally can switch, you've got to get your heal off (and hopefully in time). Situational, but I think every Healer has been there.
If I'm with a pretty stable party, throw Regen on the Tank and CS DPS all day. I suppose I'm a little overly cautious, but that's just how I play.![]()
