So you would call me a rush leveler then?

Until a couple of months ago, I had only 1 Lv. 50-60 and 1 Lv. 15.

And the main issue I have is more that I'm seeing people leveling both their main and alt classes and aren't even trying to learn a rotation.

I took top to top 4 in multiple 24 man raids, despite being surrounded by players that generally had better gear and main stats where they should be (probably). We even wiped a couple of times. The difference between me and other players is the amount of apathy; I don't like playing subpar in any job I'm on. I might have awful gear, but my rotations will be ones that pump out the most amount of DPS i can with what I have. However, if someone had actually checked my gear, I guarantee you I'd have been kicked, regardless of how much I might have been "carrying."

I thought something could be done about it? It's a mentor being a jerk to a new player, mentors are like the veteran players that are supposed to show the ropes and show the positive side of the community. If a mentor is like this, they are potentially making the newer player not enjoy the game which could make them end their sub and that's less money that SE is making. I am quite sure when it comes to that, they will not take this lightly. Regardless, as a mentor myself, i apologize that you had to deal with such behavior.

Sometimes booting someone IS showing them the ropes. Lvl 60 content with incorrect accessories and some pieces way under ilvl. The grace period for "new" has to end somewhere.

Nah, according to a few choice posters here, you're supposed to carry dead-weight "new" players around like a sack of potatoes at a farmers market.

I play WHM while the person I play with plays WAR. Neither of us are great by any means but even as we continue our journey throughout Eorzea (hitting endgame,) we'd never kick someone for any reason other than they're being an asshole to people in the group. Bad gear? Been there. Don't know your character fully? No problem. New to the game? Cool! Bitching about the other party member that is one of the three? Really?

It's great that you want to be nice and mollycoddle everyone. A valiant effort. But what happens when you're barely scraping by because everyone else has to work double just to make up for the poor performance of someone else? Or when you get players in your party who are so inept that you can't even clear whatever duty you're attempting? Try not vote-kicking dead-weights when you've reached content with mechanics that can't be slept through and where bosses have enrage timers.

Once you're level 60 in Sohr Khai, there's zero excuse for being inappropriately geared and not knowing your rotation. You're long past the point of being able to use "I'm a new player" as an excuse for dragging everyone else down when you're as far along as the OP. You can be new to a fight's mechanics, but there's definitely a point at which you shouldn't have to be taught the basics of your class.

The mentors job is to help. If your dps is low and not j7st gear help with the player understand there role better. Could it be rotation? Stop and chat for a while and findout what i would do.

Mentors are veteran players who chose to offer their time and experience to help guide new adventurers. To facilitate their assistance, mentors will gain access to a special chat channel as well as a means to easily register for duties and trials with new players.

As a mentor you are expected to actively perform the following:

Provide gameplay advice for new adventurers and other players.
Be an exemplar for player etiquette.
Invite new adventurers to the Novice Network and answer their queries in the chat channel.

I see nothing in there about carrying players who cheese ilvl restrictions by wearing Fending Gear on a BRD. If anything, removing the player actually followed rule number 2, by getting rid of a toxic player who did not wish to perform their role correctly.

Seriously? A player is wearing inappropriate gear and you think a kick without any attempt to address the issue is 'providing gameplay advice' or an 'exemplar for player etiquette'?
The mentor's job is to engage with players and help them. The quote says explicitly you are expected to give up your time to help new players.
If you don't want to do the job, you shouldn't wear the crown.
Hopefully, this system will start working as intended when all those people who simply want the mount, spam the required number of instances, get their shiny and leave.
