In regards to this discussion on tomes and linear progress in general, the key issue is the carrot on the stick. In most MMOs you grind gear to challenge harder contents, to get gear to challenge harder content...
In FFXIV there really isn't a set pattern to gear leveling so player lose motivation. Normally the pattern is dungeons to gear up for raids, but here raids drop lower gear than what you earn from dungeon grinding. Weekly caps aren't really the problem but a lack of forward progress. RPGs are all about leveling up so end game shouldn't be different. Crafted gear also has a place in this by drop material in that specific ilvl content to make that specific ilvl item. This way players can sell material for gear and shorten the grind.
Tomes are really the easiest items to get in the game yet have higher ilvls than 8-man raids and equal 24-man raids. Ideally the path should be tomes > 8-man raid/trial > 24-man raid > Savage Raid/extreme trial, risk vs reward. This is my opinion anyway.

0. Not disappointed at all. Actually very, very excited for it! :^D

0 very excited , two regions to explore sounds amazing , red mage and samurai also very promising
Haha, this thread turned out to be surprisingly entertaining. There's a lot of fanboy mentalities going on in this thread as if Square Enix can do no wrong, basic stages of denial.

SE during the three fan fest, they delivered to us the esthetic of Stormblood, the scenary.
So yeah it's look very good an I can give them 10/10 for the hype.
But right now, we need its content.

I'm also very excited for SB, so I'd say 1 or 2.
On a different matter... Sorry if it was brought up in earlier pages (didn't feel like going over 24 pages worth of posts) but as I see the major complaint being "much more of the same" and "no change in design philosophy", I would genuinely like to know what people who bring that up as major complaint would consider a major change in these things. Personally I like the current design philosophy so bringing more of the same that's slightly different is alright by me. I came from other MMO's which "changed" their design over the course and ended up really hating it usually. I would really like to see some example of this different design people are craving for. Heck, I bet the developers may also actually benefit from it they are good ideas, right?![]()

If people are happy, then that's all that should matter. You will understand once you've found something that makes you as happy.
Trust me, its a good feeling.

Honestly with responses like that it sounds like your just salty everyone isn't as upset as you. People are allowed to have opinions. Any dps players who were looking forward to Samurai or RDM are bound to be very excited.
Just cause you are disappointed doesn't mean everyone is.
Salty? Quite the opposite, this thread is, as I said, entertaining. What you said falls into hypocrisy as well, I'm allowed to share my opinions as you are. Get over it.Honestly with responses like that it sounds like your just salty everyone isn't as upset as you. People are allowed to have opinions. Any dps players who were looking forward to Samurai or RDM are bound to be very excited.
Just cause you are disappointed doesn't mean everyone is.
