I am relaying a question from a PC player that I cannot answer being on the PS4:

My friend likes physical copies, but is instead considering getting the digital collector's edition for the added rewards. Their concern is if their PC craps out, how would they re-download FFXIV if they don't have the CD?

Also, is it possible to gift the digital collector's edition?
