Also, isn't it a bit early to jump to conclusions about how the system will work?

Yoshi stated in an interview that there would be 3 levels of growth (or absence of) with pets:
1) tamed pets, no growth
2) summons and possibly wyverns: level up as you do
3) chocobos: have their own levels to grind and grow
At some point I'm not sure leveling every single pet would a good idea, the proposed system seems fairly balanced to me. And he also mentioned that summoner could be the job over the beastmaster class

Sorry if I'm too lazy to post the link, but I read this morning that actually they want to focus on what the game needs most (more casters, and a pet class, no more attacker for now) instead of what has been in the previous plans.
So I think it's reasonable to expect a pet/summon type of class/job next, along with a caster type

Did you guys even read the interview? He said that arcanist and musketeer may not be the next jobs, it doesnt matter if the setup is already in the game, he said word for word that they will implement classes that the games NEEDS first and not the ones that have already ground work in game. Since there is no pet class, summoner or beastmaster are next.
