I haven't heard anything, though that means little as I'm not horrible immersed in would be to happen soon things. XD I have heard people ask for it, and I would like it too. But I haven't heard if anyone at SE are working on it.
There were a lot of requests for it during 2.0 but we never got it. It's sorely needed since when I'm fishing I had a whole section of my inventory filled with worms and stuff. Maybe they're thinking the expanded inventory would fix it?

Response I've always seen is something along the lines of "wouldn't be fair to other classes not having a special inventory for consumables." It's not a very reasonable argument, but it's the official one.
Hasrat is right. It wasn't a definite no, but it was a 99.9% "no, & stop asking" response.
It's funny, me and my FC were just talking about this and that came up. And some responded with Botonist don't need to carry around 20 different ratchets.
The offhand slot would be a nice space for the tackle box.
It could store all the existing lures and baits, or just get rid of them.
We already have this nice interface for choosing which bait to use, so just let the different lures be unlocked by the FSH quests.
Dont let us fishermen be forgotten!
