    Yeah, that is kind of depressing. </3 I'm sure they must find something rewarding about it. Personally I can't handle the stress of full heals (I have immense respect for the people that can omg), so I went with a support DPS main instead lol.I sorta look at it as healer's pocket helper with res/virus/e4e in my kit (and physic spam works alright in lower level stuff too). Been thinking of leveling BRD, but I don't think I can deal without res as my "oh shit" button when tank loses aggro and mobs shank the healer. XD

    Practicing with SCH lately, hoping maybe I can get used to it, but I honestly find it more confusing than WHM because it's like being a SMN stuck in pre-lvl-50, with some healering sprinkled on top. :/ It confuses my brain lol.

    Because I'm a control freak, lmao.

    In all seriousness, healers are the only role in the game that has additional important utility that isn't "provide DPS boost for X seconds," which immediately makes the role much more interesting than everything else. Handling the party's mitigation, regeneration and sometimes also DPS boosts and CDs management is pretty amazing and much more engaging than high DPS or tanking. I used to be a tank main, but I usually play both roles in every MMO I try out. My first choice is usually tanking, but I end up gravitating towards healing in the end cause it's a different kind of challenge.

    Because faster queue pops >.> ... and commendations. And maybe spamming holy is very addicting.

    I main WHM from playing every FF game as one for as long as I can remember. That and I have a distrust of people. >>;;

    I got into WHM because healers were the leading cause of DF failures in Titan HM DF in 2.0. I slowly developed a love for it sometime after actually figuring out how to make it work efficiently at endgame. I realized that a healer can do a lot to carry a party after getting carried by a SCH through Titan HM on my WHM, and seeing what our (later) static SCH could do. Then i looked at DF healers and saw how limited we were by their ability, and these things drove me to improve my healing to be more useful to my FC and friends. Still I was maining PLD at that time, dabbled in SCH for a bit and eventually went on to main AST in 3.0

    This was my first mmorpg so everything had a learning curve for me, and it's the learning curves that made me love any given role/job. But the overall power behind being a healer when you use DF/PF is what puts it a cut above.

    I actually started as a BRD. I took on WHM for faster queue times. I usually play mages and ranged DPS in other games. But I love being a WHM. I enjoy not being tied to a rotation and having our role be much more reactionary. I enjoy being the hero who saves everyone else from certain death. And I enjoy the measure of control a healer has in setting the pace of the group.

    I play healer in every MMO I've ever played cause to me DPS is boring and tanking is to much pressure. When someone dies or a wipe happens I get to blame my self and no one else cause that's my job. I hate the pressure of keeping Agro but am ok with the pressure of keeping the party alive. Kind of weird but thats just how it is.

    WHM is my 2nd most played job, and I just love holy spam and watching the mobs HP bars melt when I'm matched with decent DPS that know their AOE rotation.

    I like switching from healer to dps and back and forth. The adrenaline from "maybe" letting your tank go too low, but always barely saving them.

    How the DPS keep things fresh for me by being random about which mechanics they rightfully ignore(Hi BLMs), and ones they should've dodged (hi DRG). This causes me to adapt and makes most fights feel different unlike when I DPS

    Now it's because most of the healers I come across are either completely inept or so up themselves I refuse to trust anyone else.
    I think anyone feels that way when they steer away from their "main" job. I DPS main, sometimes as healer I'll just get 2 900 dpsers. Like I've seen enrages in dungeons I didn't know existed so I said nope I'll be DPS as long as healer keeps me alive I can get us done fast. But I still go back to healer for variance and fun lol. I had a tank friend who sometimes switched and always raged back into tank role Cuz the tanks can't position mobs optimally for DPS.

    It is very easy to gauge the skill of other players as healer without question. In optimal set ups, you spend a lot of time DPSing and things die quickly. When this is happening, the DPS are on top of things and not taking damage, and the tank is alternating stances like a pro while keeping all the agro. While on the other end of the spectrum, the more time you spend healing and mobs/bosses taking longer to die usually denotes a group of lower skill level.

    As awesome as this is, I haven't got frustrated with the tanks and DPS in this game to the point that I would even consider veering from healer. The kind of healer I am has me welcome the lower skilled groups because then my chosen role is emphasized. I am 'needed' much more. If I spend 90% of my time DPSing, it makes me feel like I am not needed at all. This group could get by with a tank, and 3 DPS who have a few potions on hand for the occasional unavoidable damage they take.

    Ultimately though, it is one of the greatest things about being a healer. In a skilled group, you make things convenient, and efficient for not only the other members of your group, but for yourself as well if you are seeking a quick clear as we often are. On the other side, we can nurture and take care of those of lesser skill levels and help them get the clears and knowledge they seek. The ability we have to adapt to any situation thrown at us, and for me it is what makes this role so fun. The tank might control pace, but I control the run.
