I queue for Dun Scaith, I hit progression and yeah, slow dps, many wipes but we push through. The veterans explain the don't move on red floor, someone shouts - It's just a dot, healers can heal through it. And then they proceed to say "git gud" when people argued about it. The cringe was real. =_=

Was doing some more leveling in the Aery on WAR, got in a party with a superb MNK that was constantly fighting me for hate, a BRD who was... well, alright I guess, and a newbie SCH. However, I share boss strategies, and for the most part we get through the dungeon unscathed. Until we reach Nidhogg.

I explain what I feel to be the important bits of strategy: How to dodge Scarlet Price, that Sable Price needs to die ASAP, even that Liegetails take precedence over Liegedrakes since I can't pull them off Estinien. Fight appears to be going ok until we hit the add phase aaaaand it turns out that the SCH never actually bothered to heal Estinien. We panic, we wipe, we remind the healer, and then we go again.

Second attempt, SCH is doing a good job of keeping both myself and Estinien topped off. We do have a minor hiccup with the BRD tunnel-visioning while the MNK eats a Sable Weave, but the SCH gets them up in time for the adds. We take them out, we get in the bubble... and see our little SCH off to the side. We yell for them to get inside the bubble, but it's too late. They bite it.

At this point, I'm determined to win. I start using Storm's Path, pop all my defensive cooldowns, no way in hell am I going down without a fight. We have two bars so I command the MNK to use them. They do, but die to a scarlet price during the animation lock. Just me and the BRD left.... for about 3 GCDs, when the BRD gets targeted with Sable Price. Crap. I pop Holmgang as I'm a few hits from death, and start trying to kill him as fast as possible. 10%. 8%. 7%. Holmgang is running out and I'm at 1 HP. Time to take my trump card out of the box. I pop Fracture.

Holmgang drops. So do I. Nidhogg starts racing over to the BRD. I'm not sure if he can be hit while fettered, but Sable Weave is almost done casting so he's screwed either way. And then... the screen goes black. The victory fanfare plays. Fracture had nudged him over to 5%, the point where this particular battle ends.

You might think this story is a self-congratulating jerkfest but no, I do not deserve the credit for this win. All thanks should go to the much maligned Fracture. May you ever go on breaking bones swiftly.

Ugh, this is why I hate most DPS in this game. They always feel like the healer's job is to carry them through everything. Nevermind that MP is not infinite, and the damage from that particular DoT is large enough that I can't keep up a whole party of afflicted DPS unless they deign to stack for Cure III.

I agree here. As main DPS I feel so bad when I mess up somewhere and give extra strain to the healers and then there are these kinda DPS >_>; On the bright side, I saw them tank the floor for good portion of the fight afterwards. I guess the healers in his alliance weren't too thrilled on their comments.

Even worse, it gives you a heavy so bad you can't hit your positionals!

Getting hit by stuff for the sake of dps is fine, but that shit's a dps loss any way you look at it. God forbid you end up pulling a healer out of cleric stance for it.

Two stories from today, trying to keep it short as I am not in the mood to write something long at the moment.

    1. Dun Scaith

We kill Deathgaze Hollow, open the chests aaaaand BAM! Monk is gone. Say hello to my blacklist!
Didn't like the drops so they just left the duty. Sigh.
    We get a Ninja replacement.
After killing the second boss, we open the chests and BAM! Ninja disconnects.

    ...
I've been witnessing this a lot in 24 man raids, so I told my alliance not to kick him.
After we killed the Headmaiden, he returned. He seemed a bit annoyed ( ), but ultimately decided to stay.

    2. 60 Roulette (for glamour)

Sadly, RNG picks ARF for us.
I went as Ninja, the second DPS was a Bard.
    Manqo'te [✓]
    Final Fantasy name [✓]
    iLevel 200 bow [✓]
Didn't know how to play Bard effectively [✓]
His search info said French only so wouldn't even be able to understand our advice [✓]
But at least he didn't have spiky hair!

Well, I bet you already guessed it, but he sucked. Luckily, our WAR tank was phenomenal and compensated for the BRD's lack of DPS.
    Sigh².

As a healer main, I usually sigh and chase all the DPS around the room to try and keep them up mostly because I'm stupid enough to have hope that they just accidentally moved or stood in that giant red AOE circle that I had time to clear out of and not wanting to wipe because 2 hours in Dun Scaith is a looong time... If only people would stay grouped for my own healing aoes like they do the red ones on the floor. /cry Hey! There's a thought, can we add an AOE circle for healers? DPS seem to like standing in them so they might just do it and get healed instead...

When I'm learning a new raid I set up a macro to Aetherial Manipulation to one of the healers, mainly because they don't tend to stand in stupid and they have all the heals

Leveling an alt and got into Copperbell Mines. Had a mentor scholar who /followed the tank and did nothing the entire time letting fairie heal. Not an uncommon situation but the first time it has actually ever happened to me. Very irritating.

That actually happens? Jesus I thought that was just a stereotype.
