I really want an actually barefoot option. I don't get the "it's a bad idea it'll hurt too much" mentality. I do without footwear as much as possible and people ask me "doesn't it hurt?" and my answer is always, "it did, for like the first week." People's feet are resilient. Are you telling me that someone as utterly badass as the Warrior of Light can't handle something like that? Are you telling me that my dragon-slaying character isn't as tough as I am?

Yeah, that is no excuse for not make barefoot available. For example, look at the pictures of Lexia's post. Now I ask... Does those clothes protect from arrows, sword attacks, fire, or Coerthas' weather? I don't think so, but characters can be half naked anyway in those situations. So, they can be barefoot too.

A negative mentality is the poorest excuse ever, if Square Enix gave a rat's tail about the realism of certain aspects of FFXIV we would have toilets in-game or at the very least fake doors that would lead to an imaginary toilet, an odd comparison I know but it marks my point!...

Yes, I want the ability to walk around barefoot, no one sleeps with shoes on you know, Square Enix!?...

Instead of giving us more excuses just create better character models with thousands of more polygons and make Final Fantasy XIV even greater!...

I've also had enough of those "barefoot" sandals.

I think being barefoot is a good idea. Those sandals don't fit well for most thing, specifically sleeping or chilling in a hot tub.

I think we may see it. I hope so anyway. I always thought EN Sandles were a good candidate, change the model to be truely barefoot.

The notion of it being 'a bad idea to walk around barefoot' is hilarious, especially given lore for certain races where we've got firewalking and that sure doesn't happen with some little 'default sandle' on ones foot, and given you can go into battle glamoured in bikinis and swimwear.

Just a slack excuse on SE's side.

Actually, there's a more fundamental reason for the sandals when barefooted. The shape of your foot. The default 'shoe' is done that way because the height of the character is based on the character's heels. This means that the character models are basically designed around always wearing shoes or boots, even when 'barefooted'. If they changed the mesh, your character would magically have heels which didn't touch the ground, or rather deformed feet to accommodate the heel position.

That makes sense. I guess this is one of those things the dev team decided to make a shortcut and just don't work too much on that and just make us have those sandals instead of changing the height of the characters Everytime we wear shoes, heals or none.
