Actually, there's a more fundamental reason for the sandals when barefooted. The shape of your foot. The default 'shoe' is done that way because the height of the character is based on the character's heels. This means that the character models are basically designed around always wearing shoes or boots, even when 'barefooted'. If they changed the mesh, your character would magically have heels which didn't touch the ground, or rather deformed feet to accommodate the heel position.

That makes sense. I guess this is one of those things the dev team decided to make a shortcut and just don't work too much on that and just make us have those sandals instead of changing the height of the characters Everytime we wear shoes, heals or none.

Already been stated couple times in some other threads also that people that really wanted a true barefoot option would take the trade off of "floating" above the ground in order to have that option available to them.

No need for floating, there's ideas aplenty to make it work. In the numerous threads about this subject there's been a plethora of solutions to this illusional issue of heel and character height being "reason" enough for this not to happen.

The real kicker is a bunch of pervy people have already done this, using... methods; it's obviously a quickly done job, ehich makes the fact we can't all have it as an option even more of a shame - especially when a dev team can make it look better than a rando guy's work... if only they did it.

Anyway -- +1 to freeing us of the grafted on skin-sandals.

It wouldn't be that hard, I suspect, since certain characters have appeared barefoot and the model seems to be in the game already. It's just a question of making it available to everyone, and 3rd party software has proved it's doable.
