I'm sure it has nothing to do with the game, the look is horrible, and why color ?
Why show that in the UI ? you can simply open your bag and see what there is on it.Armor, Item, Weapon, Loot, etc.
Why not simply add a "140/200" somewhere to show the free inventory space.
I really think it could be a dev's tools (monitoring?). As Yoshida said, it's a real time screenshot.
One of the enmity meters on wow (called Omen), show only enmity bar from everyone on your current target only ! if you switch target the enmity bar change to the target you switched.what if we fighting multiple mobS?

As was stated, it could also be a part of the mannequin system they are planning out. A one click to swap your gear. The colors could indicate varying degrees of conditions. (Red for damage, yellow for minor damage, green for good to go, etc.).I'm sure it has nothing to do with the game, the look is horrible, and why color ?

If that's the case, it's in a really convenient spot for such a mechanic.

Grey is for ? there's to much dot, with to much color, how do you think the mannequin system would work ?

Also, upon further investigation of the image, and since SE has stated jobS (plural) will have access to pets...
It would be even more likely for the Paladin to have a combat chocobo, which is what the screenshot portrays.

Doesn't match or the guy have 47 item equipped (green dot) on him.

Each sector of blocks (5x5) (5x7) etc. would be a gear "set". The green would indicate an item in good condition. The red would indicate damage. Gray would indicate it's not initially equipped when you change to that gearset or could indicate a useable item that goes into your skill bar when you switch. (Like Ethers if you changed to a mage job.). Dark gray would mean no item in that slot for that gearset.

There is to much dot in one sector of block for a gear set. Didn't Yoshida said you can equip a gear set from your mannequin with one button ? i can't imagine be able to equip 25 item with one button, there is not enough room.
