    You want the legit reason they made the decision to start charging us? When they started the free period they said the game would remain free until such a time as they had a detailed, workable roadmap for the future of the game. Well, guess what the 2.0 announcement was. They are just doing EXACTLY what they said they would do A YEAR AGO.

    ohhh no not more instanced raid garbage, longas they use levequest and instanced bs as filler content the game will never succed , its pure laziness

    Also, when FFXI was 2 years old, its players had:
    - Sky
    - BCNMs
    - Dynamis
    - 12 jobs to choose from
    - Chocobos and Airships
    - An engaging expansion storyline not tied to any city
    - A working party system
    - An awesome search function
    - Teleport and Warp spells
    - Realistic real-time battles not severely inhibited by server lag
    - A (mostly) intuitive menu
    - A comfortable console style interface
    - Collision detection
    - A great targeting system that differentiated between friend and foe
    - The ability to quickly engage enemies
    - About 40 unique full zones (not including battlefield/misc zones)
    - 4 major cities (Windurst, Bastok, San d'Oria and Jeuno) and 5 "settlements" (Selbina, Mhaura, Norg, Kazham, Rabao) which were more than a dumpy building by the side of the road; those are what we'd call "outposts" in FFXI
    - 6 amazing beastmen stronghold zones that are entire zones unto themselves and not just blips on the world map

    This thread is not a comparison between FFXIV and FFXI...so its irrelevant. FFXI =/= FFXIV, the dev team at FFXIV had to do a major overhaul of the game, FFXI didn't, as a result FFXIV is lacking content because of this, but as you can see its getting here very soon.

    Bold: check. It's been a year from release, which you may call version -1.00 freely.

    Airships: Don't have to wait till rank 5 to use them. Don't have to wait at all.

    Chocobos: Hands down beyond better than FFXI's.

    <stpc>, <stnpc>, <st> work on this game.

    I don't know what people keep moaning about, "server lag". I battle just fine. If I die, I don't cry about server lag. I say: oshi, maybe I did something wrong, let me try again.

    Quickly draw out your weapon? FFXI takes FOREVER to take out your weapon. FFXIV? Half a second.

    Can't compare Sky, BCNMs, or Dynamis to this game, because they're not in the same world. Though I'll give you we do need more endgame, but they're working on it.

    Teleport and warp: Need I say anything? From day one we've had the ability to teleport and warp EVERYWHERE.

    A bunch of maps: Consider this: Each zone we have right now is about 4~5 FFXI maps. We have 5. Strongholds are MUCH tougher than Ghelsba and the others. In fact, they're really high level. Not comparable. And I'd hardly call their strongholds in FFXI amazing.

    Selbina, etc. The current FFXIV world doesn't need any of this.

    We NEED: search function and AH. Guess what? 1.20 gives us this.

    I enjoy FFXIV parties about as much as I enjoyed FFXI's. They're very different and ours is more a broad battle (links, etc) which, again, are hardly comparable with FFXI's.

    12 jobs to choose from: I would love to have these many classes. Oh, wait.
