Any word from the SE staff about this error? Not being able to experience the game on DX11 is incredibly disappointing, and being forced to play on DX9 is a drag. For those experiencing issues with both DX9 and DX11 because of FFXIV, I feel sorry for you and believe you're entitled to a refund.

This error has been happening to me for about a week. It happens on both DX9 and DX11 clients. I've tried rolling back drivers, I've tried updating them; nothing works. Sometimes I can't even log back in if I crash in certain zones because I get the error the second I try to reenter. The game is virtually unplayable in this state. Some sort of official response would be nice.

Same thing here. Random crashes for me. Often when i'm in dungeons during combat.. Game is pretty much unplayable for me right now. I get this error in both dx11 and dx9

While helping a friend troubleshooting the same issue with a Nvidia videocard, at some point I asked him to roll back to Nvidia driver version 375.63 (nov 23 2016)

Since then he played today and did not have a single crash. So either he got lucky or it helped his case.

He will play more on monday and I will update this post if it was just temporary luck.

I'm a brand new player and unfortunately, I've been having the same issue since I started playing 3 weeks ago. I've scoured the forums and the only thing that can temporarily fix the crashes is a system reboot. But here's what I've tried:
Rolling back Nvidia drivers
Using DX9 (still crashes a ton)
Underclocking memory and video card
Reinstalling FF14
Factory reset of computer

I'm at a loss because it's not like these problems have just appeared out of nowhere according to everything I've seen on the forums. Is there any word on anything actually being done about it?

Update: I confirm that my friend had not got a single crash since he roll backed to vidia driver version 375.63 (nov 23 2016), while he was crashing frequenly before.

So it's something worth trying if you have not done so.

Hey guys,

I feel like I have tried just about everything when it comes to resolving this fatal directx error that happens for me all the time that causes me to reboot my pc when the error happens. Here is what I have tried to do so far:

Updated to most recent drivers
Clean install of drivers
Went to power settings and changed to high performance plan
Went to advanced power settings and changed Link State Power Management to off
Went into Nvidia control panel and changed power to prefer maximum performance
Tried THREE different PSU's
Took RAM out one at a time
RMA'd my GPU with the manufacturer and got a new one
Used MSI afterburner to underclock GPU by 100 MHz
Made sure no overlaying software is open
Clean install of Windows 10 (as a last resort)
Messed with various graphical settings within the game itself
Uninstalled the HD audio driver when clean installing Nvidia driver

Here are my system specs:
GTX 970
16gb ram
Game installed on hdd not sdd (no room on ssd)
Windows 10 64-bit
i7 4790k

Yet by doing all of this I still get the fatal directx error on both directx 9 and 11. I should note that if I roll all the way back to driver 355.98 I don't get a single crash, but just about every driver after that causes the game to crash. I really do not want to have to keep running a driver that is just about two years old but at this point I feel like I have to just so I can play this damn game.
Is there anything else that I might be missing here? Like said this game with the most recent drivers is unplayable for me and I'm not sure what else I can do to resolve this problem. Any advice is much appreciated, thanks guys.

Same stuff as all others, just, only getting it during pvp frontlines, Field of Glory. Its really annoying, and sad that the SE support team can't get a statement out.

Seems like I finally resolved the issue (or at least I can play in DX11 and haven't got any crash so far).

I completely removed GeDoSaTo (I was using it for FFXIII). It's strange because it was deactivated when I was playing FFXIV, but after removing it because it caused me some issue on Tales of Berseria, FFXIV started re-working on DX11. Funny thing, it didn't crashed before 3.5...

So if you have GeDoSaTo or another program of the same kind, try to remove it and pray.

I downloaded this program called Advanced System Care 10 and used it to clean my registry. It seem to work for a while then I would get the crashes again. I reboot my pc and what would fix it for a while then I'll crash again. This is both in DX11 and DX9.
SE you useless pieces of shit. Please fix this issue!!!!
