Get your favorite places included in the new FFXIV

In an interview with Gamewatch, Yoshi-P responded to a question about the current maps:

GameWatch - Are you getting rid of all the current maps...?
YoshiP - We are scrapping all...

(abbreviated, thanks Reinheart for the translation)

With that noted, there are a lot of locations/objects on the current map I thought were very memorable. So include yours here and maybe the dev team will take care to move them into the new maps if they haven't decided on it already.

One of my favs is from Coerthas Western Highlands, near Twinpools, "The Fury's Gate" if I read the Eorzean script right (someone please correct me):

Add yours, and let's make the dev team aware of our fav places!

I can't imagine Eorzea without the crashed airship and dead dragon, but I also can't see it surviving a celestial body surface impact on the continent. I just hope that a few of the finer touches are kept. It's not that I want to see anything specific survive, just some of the aesthetic traditions that the peoples of Eorzea hold true.

The fall of Dalamud may take their land, but I hope it doesn't take their culture. However, you know what I miss more than the aesthetic of Eorzea? The aesthetic of:

Aesthetic Styles that the Loss of I Would Lament
    • Wood, wheelhouses, and stained glass a la Gridania (AG in particular)
    • Stone, water, and plant life in one structure a la Ul'dah's central fountain.
    • Cave with roots, fountains, and tranquil lighting a la the CNJ guild interior.

I doubt these things will be drained from the world entirely just because specific map elements are being nuked, though.

Me either, here's my favorite pic from that. That, I'm assuming, is a no-brainer to port over.

I need to put out the possibility that we might not actually get hit with said moon.

We could always find some magical way of stopping it, and the world can still be warped from the magic, the moon being too close, or meteor fragments hurtling towards the surface.

I'm not quite yet willing to acknowledge that the adventurers are going to fail to avert the apocalypse in some way.

Well, the moon is pretty big. I'm sure a direct, fill-on collision would be a disaster that would leave nothing left of Aldenard to actually CHANGE. If the whole moon hit, it'd have to hit a distant ocean (remember, the umbral eras drown the world?) or be broken up somehow.

The Lore says that Dalamud orbits the Moon, and the moon Orbits the planet (though, the citizens of Eorzea don't know this because they have no concept of space and what planets even are). This contradicts astronomy as a whole, but does link to theories about the earth's creation.

It's possible the Dalamud was never a moon at all, but a meteor whose direction and velocity were just right to get it sucked into the gravity of the planet's orbit. Even our moon doesn't technically orbit the earth, the moon orbits the sun WITH the Earth. If, like our situation on Earth, the center of gravity of the Planet/Moon's orbit of the sun is different than the center of gravity of just the planet, it leaves a little bit of an imbalance. Maybe the meteor captured by the planet/moon has fallen out of the stable orbit.

Between the Garlean Empire, Cid, and the Archon involvement, I'm sure there will be some epic degree of damage control that ultimately prevents the apocalypse but still leaves us with a cataclysm. It's a give and take kind of thing, lol. Regardless, the moon's red (atmospheric scraping, maybe), Cid clearly refers to "meteor..." and everyone's panicking.

Still, though - the EORZEA 2.0 PDF shows the new city states and they look pretty post-apocalyptic. I think we're in for quite a smack.

The big glowy one in the water, or the unassuming one that emits a bunch of light when you touch it?
