Botany is certainly annoying, I am one short 229/230 if I remember correctly, and the only things left to gather are the 3 or 4 new 3*** you need 860 gather to touch. It's looking very chicken-and-egg. I'll hope that is a mistake they will fix as well. seems odd you'd just need one rather than all of them.

Were you able to finish this without the 3-star stuff? I am stuck here as well. Wondering if something that's checked didn't register for some reason.

No, in all cases -btn, min and fish-, you need the 3*** stats.

This is a typical pattern though (craft as well), to make/gather the highest gear, you need the highest gear. Makes you wonder what the point is.

for example - by the time I have done enough fishing to get this tool, there'll be little point in continuing to fish.

I mean the only thing I really spend gil on is blowing materia up. Full disclosure: I have even occasionally overmelded with Vs.
