We don't have enough small races! Aside from the baby proportion lalafells that I cannot play and miqo'te which is more on the lower spectrum of a medium sized race, we have nothing childlike like FF9 Zidane and FF6 Gau and hell, even Alphinaud and the padjals.

I'm all for tall women but in term male characters... I'm tired of playing giants. I'm fine with my miqo'te at least.
While I'm all for shorter male options after the debacle that is Au Ra Males, I do not think Child-like Races are appropriate. Lalafells are a bit like gnomes. I could accept Dwarves but I can already foresee the backlash from people wanting to play muscular half-men with beards half as long as they are tall, and instead getting pretty-boys like Kili from The Hobbit.

If Padjal were, by some strange twist of lore, made into a playable race, I would hope to see them looking a bit more mature like Kan-E-Senna or female Au Ra, than the actual Hyur-Children we see from the others.

Very true. There would be an uproar since it is simply impossible to satisfy everyone with just one new race...

But this is Final Fantasy, not WoW. Players are familiar with pretty boys from the many other ''main'' titles in the series. It would be silly to come here and expect dwarves, especially since the majority will never play that race here when they can play cat girls or man dragons.

I'll vote for the tall, strong Viera or no Viera.
Bonus points if they make it the invert of au ra, with the females being large and powerful, and the males being petite and dainty.

And yet we have Roegadyn and Highlanders... and Au Ra men, I guess (though they really do need a muscle slider so they can at least match the race artwork).
Fantasy is also in the title. It's easy to imagine there being dwarfs in this game, as well as Viera and Beastmen glamour.

Funnily enough, Cid from FFIV kinda looks like a dwarf, yet he's a human. So I guess a third clan of Hyurs could be called dwarfs :T

A third clan of Miqo'te could be called 'Viera' or... Dwellers/Caretakers of the Earth or something (they'll be different from the other Miqo'te, like Highlanders and Midlanders. Longer ears, taller, shorter tails).

Personally, I don't want viera to be the third clan of miqo'te. I would rather have viera as its own race.

Considering Yoshi-P's comment about them some months back (Miqo'te with rabbit ears or something), it's more likely for them to be a third clan than their own race.

Well they should think again about it or give a race can be loved by alot of people. The pb for them, if they do a race only few people choose it , it will be a waste of ressource. Viera is really wanted by alot of JP NA FR DE etc. Miqote or Hyrur cant looks to a viera. Gold Saucer items cant show u as viera when u wear them. Just a crown , double tail and cant wear anything else . We cant wear a hat with bunny ears, we cant have a bunny tail with all clothes. And u not looks a true viera. We need a viera race :3
Well, im not closed for a new race other than viera but if not my style i will not choose it :/

I'm not sure how I would feel about Viera being the 3rd Miqo'te Clan. Part of me would rather see SE try to differentiate Sunseekers and Moonkeepers more, visually, before adding a third clan that is entirely different from the other two in appearance. If Moonkeepers are supposed to be a bit more Wolfish, then that should be more reflected. Maybe a little larger than their Sunseeker cousins. Though I can't say the lore really supports a wolf-theme either. The Sunseekers suit a feline theme with lions considering how tribes are built around the Nuhn and then the Tias and all the females and such. With Moonkeepers, the males would need to be less outcast from their own clans and more integral to them, since packs have a male and female alpha each.

I'm not against Viera as a third kind of option for Miqo'te, but I do feel the existing race-Clans need more distinction between them before we could make a leap like that.

I don't want to turn this into an argument for I highly respect your opinion! But allow me to defend my own point of view.

Fair enough. Dwarves or ''dwarf-like'' characters exists in the FF universe. I never said the contrary if you read my post. We're talking about a series who had characters Umaro, Cait Sith and Red XIII has characters.

But the thing is, weird and funny characters are support characters and NPCs. Not protagonists. My argument was from a story perspective, a designer point of view and statistics. Roegadyn and Highlanders are indeed playable despite lacking the physical traits of a typical FF game protagonist but look at the statistics. Despite me LOVING them and very much enjoying my friends playing them as them bring an amazing and fun diversity, I would never play one and same goes with the majority. Most want to be the typical FF hero and if FF14 devs are tasked to attract new players, they will create races that will please this demographic. If they wanted to implement dwarves, they should have done so at launch and not 4 years in, especially if they can only manage 1 new race per year.

All that to say that dwarves will never come out ever. It's too much a gamble and it's not enough to attract the majority of FF fans. That is why they'll go with the mainstream cute or cool stuff.
