The point I was making was that if someone is doing something wrong/bad you stop them from doing it over and over. Because it's bad. Unlimited resource or not, it's bad. It's a crime.Cheating in sport competitions is taking something from the others directly since there're limited gold medals and cheaters will take them away from the others. Gathering bots are obtaining things from unlimited resources. Gold Saucer bots aren't taking my Fenrir, it's a Fenrir from the system and they're unlimited.
Killing people is wrong. But I'm not gonna come out on the street, yelling about how much I hate them. It's the polices and the courts' job to deal with them. Just like the bots, it's GM's job. They're gonna do their job whether I hate bots or not. It doesn't matter.

I'm paying taxes to hire cops to deal with criminals. It's not my job to confront them. And I've already done my part by paying taxes aka subscription fee in this game. What else do you want me to do? Chase after them, capture screenshots, and keep bashing their owners on the internet and hope they're gonna read my comments?
How do you think criminals are caught? Police just find them on their own?I'm paying taxes to hire cops to deal with criminals. It's not my job to confront them. i found it pretty funny when Blizzard started banning bots from WoW , and someone on a german website complained that he cant play with his bot software anymore XD , he has no more reason playing the game without cheating and thus quitting WoW for good :P
1) other people aren't as selfcentered and understand what's going on even if it doesn't negatively impact then and care from that regard.
2) if bots are killing the markets for gathered mats, what motivation does an actual player have to get involved in the market? A player, readily obviously, can not compete with an automated program that runs 24/7.

Not supporting bots. But I wonder about how slowly action gets taken. On a server like Balmung and other heavy crafting servers. I don't think current crafting could be maintain at this level. They would literally bleed the MB dry. Inflation would be through the roof. Other servers may balance better and already be in balance.
A lot of things that aren't glamour, pets, or brand new is below vendor if it has a vendor. If feeling lazy I can usually buy GC turn in items for at least 5k-10k less then what vendor sells for.

You make it sound as if if non-JP crafters are arbitrarily making up prices. If they stayed at 200k/500k for months, then that is exactly what they're worth in those economies. JP players tend to be much more self sufficient = less buyers for a product = lower prices. Also there's a very real difference in the RMT presence on JP worlds = less inflation of the economy = lower prices across the market board on almost everything.Well, such an automated system does seem to exist, but only on JP servers. I quite vividly remember the Anima mats for the 210 step - 200k+ a piece for months even on a highly populated server like Balmung that has little RMT (500k+ on other NA/EU servers), 50k a piece day one on several japanese servers.
I had a good laugh and never supported crafters nor gatherers since.
