By the way, you were right about the Sultana. If you haven't done the quest "There Might Be Blood," check that out. Great look at the Sultana (who is indeed a Lalafell). She looks pretty smitten with the leader of Ul'dah's company - which, due to some independent research I've been doing, leads me back to my last question for the LOCs - two posts above. (Rych & Rych; same guy?)

Rycharde (Mistbeard, the Pirate King) and Rycharde (The Syndicate of Ul'dah) = Same guy? Different guys?

As far as we know, the two Rychardes are not the same person (though if they were, bravo to the Syndicate Rycharde for hiding right under the sultana's nose). While it has been a long-standing (albeit unwritten) rule that all NPC names in both FINAL FANTASY XI and XIV are to be unique, XIV has quietly opened the door to allowing some duplication...as long as it's easy to tell the two apart (such as they are given different titles or surnames, or one only appears in texts and not as an actual NPC, etc). For the most part though, we'll probably be sticking with unique name model, just to keep confusion to a minimum...well, unless we want confusion at a maximum

I'd consider maybe, possibly, just naming one Richarde or Richard, instead. You never know when somemoose might come long, see these names, and concoct a grand tale that after Mistbeard had made off with the Sultan's treasure, he laid low, shaved his beard, cast off his pirate ways, and returned to Ul'dah - using the riches he'd stolen as a disguise to declare his legitimacy to a seat in the Syndicate... at least until a man named Raubahn ousted him from it many years later.

It certainly would have explained why the Sultana was so happy for Rau: after finding out somehow that her rumored illegitimate father had a seat of power over even her... the honorable Raubahn won the seat back and banished him from the table. Or was Mistbeard only trying to look after his daughter all along...

But then that certain somemoose would have to deal with the shock and horror of finding out he made it all up... <sniffle> Spare the theoretical somemoose!

Thanks for clearing that up, though! I'd have run much more rampant with that hypothetical backstory... (unless you guys wanna borrow the idea; Mistbeard... alive.... ahhh /swoon.)

The problem with naming one of them Richarde or Richard is that then we'd have to correct the slew of posts we'd get here saying that they misspelled one or the other of them.
