Specific quote from the english lore book:
"They take great pride in the majestic horns that protrude from the sides of their head, which also serve to enhance hearing and a sense of spatial awareness"
Essentially the horns ARE their ears.

How the hear is not one of tough questions about them.
There are other more intriguing questions about them.
Like how they sleep.
How they kiss if they kiss.
How they you know "relieve" their stress.
How they can wear clothes with scales and horns. (their attires seem the normal ones everyone has so no special designs for them).
Why they look so angry all the time.
Net hammocks.
Carefully.
Vigorously.
Flesh scales are akin to leathery underbelly scales, tough and flexible; not hard like the hollow horns.
Resting bitch face.

So basically the horns cover and protect their external acoustic meatus while also acting as a mean of noise enhancement and they lack the fleshy pinna seen on the other races altogether.
I wonder how they deal with infections there? Would they get more or less then hyurs and such do? Would horn-based parasites, like mites, be a thing?

I could see infections, mites or parasites happening if the horn was broken (which they heal over time- they don't stay broken). Otherwise, it looks like the horn is completely closed off.So basically the horns cover and protect their external acoustic meatus while also acting as a mean of noise enhancement and they lack the fleshy pinna seen on the other races altogether.

to me au ra never looks angry, the problem here is what their face gets a rather neutral look emotion, and depending from your viewpoint, they will look angry neutral or happy
basically i see me character face most of the time as :| instead of the so said >:-( what most people see for some reason

Definitely depends on the face. The 1st option typically will have a very indifferent look about them, almost pompous or stiff if you do it right. The 4th option, the curved horns can easily have a seriously powerful RBF. Especially with the rings in their eyes if they are of a very pale color can give a sharp glare.

Yeah, here's another template I've saved with face/horn #4.Definitely depends on the face. We can also be creepy Au ra :P
Everything depends on the angle and the lighting.

By the way, I have seen au'ra male who look intellectual, others more shy and not always angry!

So, cutting an Au Ra's ears off is basically like cutting a cat's whiskers? They can't walk straight ever again?
Innocence doesn't mean an absence of wickedness, nor is it represented by the absence of anger or hatred. Innocence is when seeing others hurt also hurts you. When one becomes blind to the people suffering in the world, that is what it means to have lost one's innocence.
