Don't worry, you can keep your shiny crowns and such. I've had better luck assisting people with the crown off than I have with it turned on, personally. Especially since there are people out there who wear the crowns and can't even do their own jobs...

But again everyone isnt like this, If someone is a fresh 50 ill go buy them gear from hw to help them until they can get ironworks set, I will run any dungeon new or old with a new player, I will craft for them for free. If I dont know something Ill do a google search because I know everyone isnt playing on pc. I mean I wanted to help , I help for a living so naturally Id want to in the game and NN is just a really big community more active than any ls so its a nice feature. I mean some may come across rude but Id like to think that over half the mentors actually care about helping other players.

I don't see them taking the mentor away from everyone who has earned it and having no mentors while everyone levels again.

There nothing really earned, just had to have one of each role leveled. Which quite a lot already had and not that hard to do.

Few bad apples can spoil the barrel though, and the Mentor system shouldn't have been something left to let bad apples sit in the first place. Letting it be player managed with no actual way to manage the system was a gross mishap on their part. Everything you can do as a mentor you could do without the shiny crown. That icon was supposed to mean "Hey I can engage this person for assistance and hope to learn/better understand something" and suffice to say, when I see that crown it's easily a 50/50 shot whether they're helpful, and even greater odds against them being competent in their own regards.

Sigh a set of vender gear isnt a reward, nor is running someone through a dungeon, that they to participate in. A reward is drops, like mounts and up to date gear etc, totally not the samething as what I said in the quote you posted. So yea i stand by what I said in the other thread because these are two totally different things, buying a clear on Alexander is not the same as helping a new player stay geared up to where they wont be a burden to their fellow party members.

This also happens to be the same guy the community took 13 odd pages to convince that he should use Darkside on DRK.

I hope he's been using it properly since then because I'd hate to have him as a mentor after that thread...

yes im using darkside , it was my first week even playin the job , and i always recommend it also

the current requirements are annoying as it is :/ i've only started tanking recently so have no where near the number of dungeon/trial completions needed in order to get into the mentor system. all i want is that mount!

The mistake was putting a mount behind mentor roulette. It took the aspect of simply assisting newer players and made it about collecting yet another mount. It certainly doesn't help there is no GM moderation of any kind. Frankly, they could have used this as an opportunity to promote many of the guide makers on Youtube. At least that would be steering people in a good direction.
