I'd switch on day one, these Ninja aesthetics with mudras and all that aren't really what I'm looking for in a rogue / stealth based job.

While I wouldn't mind there to be equipment that looks like it would be best for a certain job, I don't want to see them return to pigeon-holing. I hated it when I could only use the Kirumu coat on my ranged DPS. Loved it when they added it for all classes in the form of the Urumu coat (or however it's spelled).
Granted, that coat isn't very job specific, but it's an example of wanting to use a restricted gear piece on a job that can't use it. I want to see as little of that as possible.

I'm all for more job specific gear, tired of all the generic shared sets

Well, we had this with the Esoteric Tomestone sets back when they were current. Each job had its own look (I believe, might be wrong). I wouldn't mind seeing more of that, perhaps even as a crafted addition. However, one has to balance the cost of resources for developing content as well. Each expansion adds more classes, which would increase the number of sets to be added. If SE just started taking existing gear and modifying it slightly, I think people would call it a lazy cop out. There's a demand for re-imagined versions of Job specific gear.
I also agree, I see no reason to keep crafter/gather gear locked.

Uh, they would be totally unusable for glamour, just like AF armor. Who in their right mind is gonna glamour PLD gear on their tank set and watch the WAR and DRK glams look like trash?

Next job specific gear come with 4.0 in some months (will be lv70 gear)
DRG, MNK and NIN haven't this problem, yet ^^
They don't share the same gear anyway.
No thanks to extra job-exclusive gear if we still can't have job-exclusive glamours.
Classes aren't being done away with in Stormblood, and NIN already has far too many of THF's abilities for them to suddenly pull out Thief now. I'm sorry, man. It just isn't going to happen. Ever.
I mean if we want to be fair, it is a thief in the end. In FF1 isnt the upgrade for Thief the Ninja?
