Somebody, please tell me. In which fight, in this entire game, does a bunch of glowing yellow arrows on your head mean that you should run AWAY from everyone else?

I've been through the majority of the fights in this game, seen their mechanics, and I have yet to see one in which those arrows signified a mechanic like that. I don't know, maybe it's in one of those that I haven't done. Like Coil Savage, maybe?

But twice in a row now, I've seen people in Final Steps run off and get themselves killed when they see those arrows on their head. Even when they see other people performing that stack flawlessly. I would just like to know why anyone would run away, because I cannot, for the life of me, fathom why anyone would see giant yellow glowing arrows on their head and have that equate to "I MUST RUN AWAY!"

Bit of unusual example for bad tanking. Queued for Dun Scaith earlier this week and got a Dark Knight who utterly refused to tank-- to the extent they would flat out allowed the bosses to kill other players rather than provoke and take aggro. It got practically bad with the last boss, who bounced around the arena after the MT died, slaughtering a Dragoon, Ninja, White Mage and this Dark Knight still wouldn't turn on Grit. In fact, I purposely focus targeted them earlier and they never turned it once throughout the entire run. We wiped once solely because both tanks were down and he preferred to wipe himself than tank.

Now you would think they were under geared or simply had no idea how to play a tank. Nope. Full Savage gear.

Ran Amdapor Keep Hard for the first time last night on me WHM, and also brought it to the party's attention. It was a good run, and very fun. Nothing really all that bad, but found this funny:

Tank: Wanna take it up a notch? Big pulls?
DPS1: Hellllz yeah!
DPS2: Let's do it :3
Tank: .... I'm asking the healer you dotes ;P

This seriously just happened in my run. The sad thing is it was the third time we'd done the mechanic. They ran off, the group chased them, they died, then the beam proceeded to ping pong between every other member and wiped us at less than 10% to go (to be fair the other healer kept dying, but still).

I just can't with people.

Had a similar thing happen to me in that, there was a tank who marked another tank as MT, and started the count down, of course the guy who was marked isn't do anything so we sat there like 2 min while everyone was bashing the tank who marked the other tank, If you don't feel ready to tank, don't tank

Queue'd for Aurum Vale to level Sch from 49 to 50, start with fresh party, tank goes "uh, all my gear broke lol", pulls the first few mobs which we clear out just fine, and then just bails. Then the two DPS both bail. Two new DPS join, and we clear the first room, but can't clear the first boss. So I offer to/leave, switch to tank, and queue in progress for AV in the hopes of finding a healer faster than a tank, only to get a different in-progress that was only 2 minutes in missing a tank X_x

I'm hoping that means they either bailed right after I left or a tank and a healer miraculously joined in the 20 seconds it took me to queue back in. If not, sorry you guys! >_>;

Cleared AV with the in-progress I got just fine, queue'd again as Sch and finally hit 50.

I encountered the healer as DPS argument in the flesh for the first time today. I'll state before I start that my main is SCH, my WHM is also lvl 60 & I'm levelling AST because it's kinda fun, but my middle name is 'careful' when it comes to Cleric Stance. I'm more likely to be accused of not DPS-ing enough than too much. But anyway I put Cleric Stance on my bar first as AST, on the basis that no one really needs Protect in the very first dungeons, and CS would be more useful.
Got Tamtara today. Ninja complained from the start about 'why no protect?!'. The tank & the other DPS told him to leave it. He carried on complaining. He said 'healers are supposed to heal, not DPS'. He said 'you'll be sorry when we all die'. No one was dying so he started attacking whichever mob the tank wasn't. I healed him, I healed the tank, I switched CS on & off. He complained more. At one point he said "I need Protect!" And the other DPS replied 'Wear a condom then ....'
We completed successfully and swiftly and no one died. But he moaned throughout. I was lost for words. I can understand - I guess - folks who complain about lazy healers (altho I'd say that lots of people don't have the confidence with CS to take things to the wire). But I really never expected to be attacked for DPS-ing in a very low level dungeon just because it meant one member of the party missed out on a few points in defence boost ...

You don't need protect in the early dungeons like Satasha, or Tam-Tara for my healer CS is always my first cross class.

I had a really bad experience the other night in Keeper of the Lake oh boy..I went on BRD, friend on Sch we got a blm and drk for our other 2. Great I'll foes and we can speed pull right? Nope, Drk uses Grit and Unleash no tank cds, single pull, we ask em nicely to pull more he says "no I'm the tank I wanna do it my way". We say ok, pop foes, healer dpsing and aggro is ping ponging tank freaks out and says "why is the healer dpsing it's making too much aggro with foes and the blm you need to use quelling every pull".

The guys not even using Darkside..ugh I tell him to use it to which the tank says "you can't use both lol it's a stance..". Just...what I can't even, he uses Darkside on the first boss after me telling him you can use both and we were gonna kick him but he never passed on loot! How annoying is that. Not to mention he never used Darkside after that.

Anyways we get to pulling more he's not using CDs and losing threat left and right, not tanking the adds on 2nd boss, and standing in the flame thrower. We get to the pulls before the final boss. He then /sits and says "I'm not pulling more until the blm and healer calms their threat down". At this point we just waited till the loot was dropped and we kicked em and got a new tank.

Also the drk was lvl 58...with a level 60 pld makes me wonder how they even got to 60 in the first place

I main a healer and I stopped worrying about other healers not protecting or stoneskinning when I realised that all this is in the end to make the healer's job easier, and learned to trust my healer. When I'm not healing, if there is no stoneskin, the current party healer will certainly adapt to it and it will be his/her choice to cast it or not. If he/she chooses not to then it's fair enough, I will trust them and keep going, they will know if they want to reduce/prevent healing or if they don't. I am nobody to judge them if they want to play in a safe way or more aggressively, as long as my duty gets cleared.
What I mean by this is, we might feel a little more safe when we have protect/stoneskin on or not, but ultimately it's a tool for the healer to handle his job and make things easier for himself, not for us. Given it will be therefore also easier for us as dps/tanks, but I don't understand people who moan and even throw a fit when the healer has cleric stance in low dungeons instead of protect. And I doubt that if we die, it's because of lack of protect...
