While "culture mixing" is a nice idea, id say not so much for a video game. If you want exposure to different cultures, look for such experiences in real life, they are more meaningful and rewarding. As for video games, I think its best to just keep the cultures separate, it effectively just reduces the population for each of us since some will refuse to group with others and lack of communication etc. And we all know that a smaller population = less opportunities for all (in general). Its also quite burdensome, imo, trying to accomplish difficult tasks with a group who speaks a different language. The only tool we have is the autotranslate function, and we all know how very limited its use is.
TLDR: same language servers only please, its a video game

I'd never pay to subscribe to a game that had Only same language servers.

Hmm consider the following: server population cap is 3000 people. You speak English only. The server is 1500 english and 1500 japanese. Essentially, you would only be able to interact with half of the server in a meaningful way, limiting all your potential opportunities and interactions by one half. It could take you twice as long to accomplish things. So you play twice as much or progress at half the pace in group related content. I would not prefer this. If you are bilingual, then just pick a language.

I already explained how this is not the case. SE themselves posted about how time zone differences allowed them to place more people on a server in FFXI than other games could. It doesn't reduce the number of people who can understand you, it just adds ones in different times of the day.

I play from Paris, but I only speak English, and terribad French. Ffxi got me learning Japanese, and my play time falls between JP prime time and us prime time. Most Europeans I knew in xi were complete morons, like on a level I would never expect. So I am in a us ls but I join with jp parties all the time.

Regional servers would basically call for the end of my game.

Despite the ~12 hr time differences, my point remains. The fact that there are any non-english speakers (for example) on a server does indeed reduce the number of possible interactions for me and for all english speakers.

No thanks I like to play with people from around the world in my MMO language is no barier to me as it seems to be for you, your server limitations is skewed as well as the number are for characters playing at once. Giving Multiple timezones more than enough slots for characters.

Have you played FFXI? Do you think you will be invited to kill HNM, raids, etc. etc. with all Japanese linkshells?
How will you guys communicate strategy with one another and communicate important things during battle?
While you say its "no barrier to me" that is likely because you have not been in a situation yet where it will become an issue. Play long enough and those scenarios are bound to happen. Now, its not the end of the world of course, but just a missed opportunity. Additionally, just because a server is all english (hypothetically), does not imply that all players live in America. Those time zones/slots could just as well be filled up with english speakers from around the globe, should they choose to join an english speaking server.

I didn't have to join a Japanese linkshell to do those things, because I played on a server with a massive variaty of players. If could play with NA, EU, and Japanese players allover the world. I could log in at anytime of the day and it be "Primetime" somewhere.

FFXI held no restrictions for me I did KSNM, BCNM, Dynamis, Limbus, many other events with a majority of Japanese players and I don't speak the language well enough to do much other than understand some basic words and pick a few things out from sentances.

Hell I did Limbus with german players, language wasn't in my way either because I knew what I had to do, I did Dynamis on rotation with a Linkshell that had players of all nationalities, the NA side would do runs during the day, the EU in my afternoon, and the JP during the night.

Guess who did runs with all of the groups? This guy, because I surmounted the barier of requiring people to tell me how to preform during Dynamis runs, limbus runs, BCNM's. I knew how to play the game and the players I played with knew I was fully capable.

There is no "missed oportunity" on a global server, everyone can play with their own language if they want becasue your not going to be the only NA, EU, JP player floating around. Hell you might find it nice to go outside your comfort zone and meet some players outside your language who may know enough to hold a half decent conversation it's not as hard as you might think.

Many Japanese players if you let them are very good at speaking english, and once they have some confidence usually relish nothing more than a chance to practice talking with a native speaker. The claims of Xenophobic Japanese players are unfounded, they may be introverted but thats one great thing about the internet is there is no race or creed online (Aside your avatar I guess...) You all play the same game and have common interests.

People get turned off so easilly when they get burned once or twice, grow a pair and keep trying it's not like all of the players you meet that speak your language are sunshine and rainbows either, it's just easier to ignore because you don't have to go out of your way to be shuned by your own language.
