Sadly there seems to be plenty of people that will drop money on it regardless of what it cost and SE knows this, so they will keep raising the price on stuff as long as people keep buying it. Watch it be like $250 when 5.0 launches.
You're unfortunately probably right.
My limit was the cost for the ARR CE. Even that was a pretty big disappointment, as I thought we were going to get an actual soundtrack - instead we got a CD with 6 total songs. Six. It's a little sad that my one refusal just means I don't get to enjoy the things I want (I love artbooks and I'm a sucker for cloth maps of fantasy worlds), because SE surely won't notice my purchasing the digital instead of the physical one, but... at least I can feel principled I guess.

So when does gamestop get the PC version of Stormblood for Preorder? lol..all they have on their site is PS4 (no I do not mean collectors edition)
Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.
Is there any way to get the digital collectors edition on amazon? Or would my best bet be to preorder stormblood on amazon and then upgrade to collectors at release?
Aww cute, people complaining about a 200 dollar price.
I'm sitting here and my digital download is - after conversion from AUD to NZD is 83.70c. We don't even have the option of the physical edition or the ability to pay in our own currency.
The Australian collectors (digital) is 79.99 dollars. WHich, makes no freaken sense.
It's a Digital download! Why is there such a hike in price difference?
Square, can we have an OCE fanfest now?
As of right now there is not (going by amazon.com). You could simply order the digital CE from the SE store though if you're just going to upgrade via the mogstation anyway.
Is the Mac version available for pre order? What are the system requirements for the Mac? Are they the same as they were for Heavensward?

Question I see no one has asked yet!
When will we be able to enter in the code we get for pre-ordering? I know the items won't likely be delivered until early access but it'd be nice to be able to enter the code now. (I keep getting Invalid code)
Will the CE versions be available for pre-order through amazon? And if I pre-order from amazon will I be eligible for early access? I'm kinda interested in the 20% discount from amazon prime, so if they'll have digital CE there as well as early access I might buy from amazon. From:
"* (NA) The Stormblood Collector's Edition is only available on the Square Enix Online Store."
So if you have a NA account and you prefer Amazon (or any other retailer), then yeah, pre-order the regular edition and then get the CE upgrade later.
(Though since they specified that as being true specifically of the NA version, maybe those with EU accounts could get CE from other retailers. Don't know for certain about that, though.)
