Funny enough, the preview fight (The boat fight with the Aurelias) was stated to be real time rendering which people didn't believe it was either then the game released and we seen the cutscenes that were indeed rendered in real time (which was the whole purpose of the Crystal Tools engine lol.)
There's a marked difference between the boat cutscene and the combat therein compared with the actual boat ride and the actual game's combat and spell effects.Funny enough, the preview fight (The boat fight with the Aurelias) was stated to be real time rendering which people didn't believe it was either then the game released and we seen the cutscenes that were indeed rendered in real time (which was the whole purpose of the Crystal Tools engine lol.)
yes actually, look at the chocobo, see how polygonal his wing is? you can almost see the lighting filter phasing on the wing too.
if you look at the effects youll see clipping in the ground, the mages magic orb is a good example in this pic. these are both things that wouldnt be so apparent in a rendering.
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
Agreed! I personally like the new dark undertone, as it tells me the game is probably going to become more mature.
You can have flying islands, an unlimited abyss, and all that sort and still make it realistic - which is something the FF series is known for. Mithras/Miqo'tes for instance actually do look like they'd be what such concepts would look like if they were in the real world, even if there is no such thing as a catgirl in the world. Everything in FFXI does in fact look realistic, even if the concepts themselves aren't realistic, which is what makes it realism to begin with.God, any change always sends the regular crowd into the, "NO, it's becoming WoW!!!!" panic mode. It looks nothing like WoW. It looks nothing like Tera. By the way, Tu'lia was so realistic, along with Lumoria, right? Oh, and how about Promyvions? Those were realistic too! No, actually, they weren't. Big floating islands in the sky is not realistic, yet FFXI had them. Huge crystals sparkling and floating are not realistic, yet both XI and XIV have had them, along with a ton of other FF games. A zone that looked like the artist was tripping on acid while watching the Frieza saga of DBZ was not realistic, yet it was in XI.
I hope it does change the game's feeling... we need more darker MMORPGs.
