There are already camp fires around the world, why not make it a requirement to camp near camp fire spots?

because those campfires are already at camps >.> that would be uber boring, and everyone would have the same camp out spots.

Not all of them..
I've seen several Unlit camp fires around Gridania (Black Shroud) and Ul'Dah (Thanlan), and no doubt they're in the Limsa region as well.
If /tent (or /camp) in game worked so it could only be cast near one of these sites, and then the fire became lit
(Much like one of the Gridania Side quests does)

Thinking back to the times I was grinding for mats around Ul'Dah.
I do believe they remain Unlit during night hours.

If the servers were up I could give you exact coordinates on where to find such an Unlit Camp Fire not too far from Camp Black Brush
(roughly half way between Black Brush and Nanawa mines)

I've seen some unlit camp fires. Actually, one sidequest from Gridania (conjurer's guild) is for you to lit 3 of them
