What would it take for you to quit the game?

Well obviously I've not "never looked back." But I quit shortly after final coil came out because I was pretty done with tome farming, raid group drama and the absolute garbage the community was about extremes. Came back for a bit when Heavensward came out, but after about a month of Alexander Savage I didn't like where the devs were in regards to content design and artificial challenge barricades (re: bosses that can't be beaten because you literally can not do enough damage with the gear available.) and the tomestone game was still as stagnant and terrible as it was in 2.0, (plus the two jobs I enjoyed the most got incredibly obnoxious rotation adjustments.)

I've been playing again for about a month now, mostly with some friends who are relatively new to the game. Haven't touched expert roulette and probably never will again.

I will see what changes come with Stormblood but unless the endgame treadmill dynamic gets some tweaks, fixes or straight up overhauls it probably won't be for long.

That all being said, if the few friends who still play this game decide to go, I won't look back.

I would quit the game if I somehow lost my character or when FFXIV shuts down. This is pretty much the only reason.
I love my character too much and I collect things on him. So yeah.

Quit and never come back is very unlikely for me, maybe for one of the reasons already stated like losing your character for reasons beyond my control. My character is very poor and don't have many gear or jobs lvled up but the sense of losing it is not very pleasant.

However i do take very long breaks, i played a bit during HW launch and came back only after 3.4. My subscription is ending next month and i'll probably just come back after 3~4 patches after 4.0 if they keep the same schedule as 2.x/3.x.

I would quit the game if the game is not going in an interesting direction for me. HW made me stop my sub after 3 years, so it got close to boring me to tears. However with the interesting changes on the horizon and the great endings the MSQ and side stories have, I am interested in the direction of this game.

If there is another horrible dull patch like HW, then I might stop my sub again. I don't know if SE will make that mistake once more, we can only see how the game will go.

I of course will still be playing Lost Ark when it comes out in English, but I plan to be playing both games .

I think not. the last I heard was that he will continue as producer, but not as producer director of FFXIV - Yoshi-P will continue his association with FFXIV and the development team after Stormblood.

Him not being the director is the good thing. But you would not remove him from director with out a plan to move him to a new game. I think they have him as producer still jsut in case his replacement is worse they put him back.

He likes being Director but not Producer. I believe he is just stepping down from Producer role to focus on being Director.

If the servers like blow up or something and lose my character data or game shuts down.

-If they change my favorite jobs too much to the point where they don't feel the same anymore
-If they ever try to add too many difficulties and make everything overly complicated for no reason
-If they add too many excessive grinds to the game
-If they add damage meters to the game
