    looks and seems pretty close to what i imagined RDM being in this game, we only saw a handful of skills, but at the least the concept of jumping in and out and bombing with spells feels about right, the hat is totally on point, as well as the gear, agree about the frills, but meh, thought the cryatal and sword was a good and clever way to do it, was thinking they might have gotten a sword cane so far it looks great

    I actually love the look of how RDM is coming along. The Crystal Medium and the way it connects with the sword to make a staff is a nice touch and is a brand new idea not seen in FFXIV as of yet. Plus the combination of magic and positional melee sounds like a fun concept. Also, I am not sure why no one has mentioned it yet...but,

    PIMP HAT! xD (and pop the collar!)

    I am excited to see its toolkit and how it operates, though I know it'll probably need adjustments as we begin picking the job apart potency by potency.

    The preview doesn't give much hope to some of us. Believe me when I say I'd love to be wrong on what I currently expect out of RDM based on what I've seen on the job. Right now the job looks like a turret that rotationally goes into melee range before hopping back out.     * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    I neither love nor hate it. The only reason I slightly dislike it is because I was hoping RDM would have the traditional 'hand on small of back' stance fencers use. But I realize they need something to cast with. Every caster (and that is part of what RDM is) channels their magic either from or through some aether enhanced object be it metal, stone/bone, plant, enchanted ink or combination thereof. Their floaty thingy will have more to it than meets the eye and I'm looking forward to finding out what that is.

    Having simply a sword with magical properties would be interesting but the sword/staff trick weapon appeals to several types of casters who prefer the more traditional staff/rod/wand weaponry for mages. Give it a chance.

    Or you can wait to play the game, and if you don't like the class, you can play another. There's plenty for you to choose from. This forum post won't really accomplish anything, but put more negativity in the community.

    In all honesty, if they just made the Rapier the magic conduit, I would have been fine with that, they could have had RDM wave the Rapier around like a conductor's wand when casting magic and get all swish swish STAB when going melee, I would have been fine with that.

    Overall....I like what we got out of RDM, I like the coat, I like the hat, the playstyle SEEMS interesting but I'll wait till I have it in hands before I make a full decision on that. Overall, RDM seems fun and it looks like they tried really hard to keep some of the core aesthetics of the job in place while tweaking it to work in FFXIV's lore, so kudos to them there. (I really do want that coat though...gimmie gimmie Papa Square.)

    Honestly if you don't like it, you do have the choice to not play it. Stick to your current job(s), or wait for the other one.

    and if you don't like any of the jobs..... idk uninstall or something.
