Girly men =/= gay men.
Thanks for being pretentious though. Sorry that I don't like stupidly feminine guys? At least if you're gay there's a reason for it, but being girly just for the sake of being girly is weird as hell to me -- especially if you're supposedly straight.
Interestingly enough, I'm not a fan of the fact you feel that they are the same thing. One of my best friends is a distinct masculine homosexual fellow, so I'm not even sure why you'd jump to the conclusion that what I was attempting to trash gay people... Oh right, I know. Its that whole pretentious thing.
Additionally, thanks for taking the joke waaaay too seriously.
To answer your question though -- I wouldn't care, because it's all numbers and they really don't represent -anything- in the real world. The statement was, ironically enough , a joke.
You know, I'm just largely tired of the depiction of heroes as adolescents. Sure, I understand there's a target audience, but I just greatly prefer realistic characters. (that's one thing I hated about FF12, how they recast Vaan as the main character just to have a younger guy as the lead.)They just look the way about 90% of real life men look like..maybe some people just want to look kind of..normal ingame, instead of looking like a green or red giant packed with muscles
Not saying anything bad about Rogaedyn or Highlanders though, it's just..they aren't my cup of tea.
I do realize there are people who strongly oppose a feminine looking male Miquo'te, but really, you already have two whole races which can satisfy your needs.
Now I want eye candy for people like me who like their kitties a bit different >:3
Basically, I don't even want them to look feminine.
I just want them to look boyish, not all that grown up yet.
Female Miquo'tes hardly look older than 14-17 either, so..to fit them, I don't want30+ years old furry lover fun.
I understand some may fear they become yaoi bait, but..that's exactly what I want them to be, haha xD
So I don't want this:

But not this either:

But I want this

I think they should go the Phantasy Star Online route and just make it so that you can slider-out your character between young and meek to old and burly. That way we can all make our characters suit us perfectly.
Personally, I like my characters to look as much like me as possible, and going with the shortest Highlander is the closest I can get. (not saying a cat man would be closer, just saying options are always nice.)

How can you be talking about choice when just one sentence earlier you're saying they shouldn't even consider making a male character class different by being less masculine?Or alternatively we could voice our opinions and complain about it so we (who don't like it) don't have to get driven away from a race we might want to play as because they're some sissy-boy yaoi reject. Like I said in a previous post if they're updating the games engine they need to do what other games have done for years now and give us a plethora of choices when it comes to character creation.
I'll answer that for you. It's because you only care about choice suited to YOUR needs, not everyone elses.
Anyway, I don't see why we can't have both. Hyur has pretty varying degrees of "masculinity" so I assume it will be the same deal here.

Male should differ from the female miqo'te just as much as a lion differs from a lioness.
Should come with some nice hairdoos lol. Slightly taller and of course slightly more muscular. Should be no more musuclar than a Midlander and hopefully no less.
Think Inuyasha despite him being a dog

I could actually live with that. Not too manly like they should be but still badass.

If that's the case there is no need to censor anythingGirly men =/= gay men.

To answer your question though -- I wouldn't care, because it's all numbers and they really don't represent -anything- in the real world. The statement was, ironically enough , a joke.. Stupidly feminine guys by your standards? What makes a guy masculine then? Having ripped muscles, hairy chest and being able to change the oil in his own car? To keep with my original statement, "Assuming you censored whatever word or words and used "girly" instead" will lead anyone to assume you meant gay, why else would you censor? So they don't mean the same and i never said they did.
The tone of this thread is starting to remind me of the time I got called a racist for being against botting.

If ViolentDjango is a troll then he fails to deliver.

You gravely underestimate how vulgar I can be if you think there's only one word in my rhetoric worth censoring... Additionally: joke. I didn't even need to have a word in mind for the joke to work -- its a "fill in the blank with hilarious vulgar language as you see fit" scenario. If that's the case there is no need to censor anything. Stupidly feminine guys by your standards? What makes a guy masculine then? Having ripped muscles, hairy chest and being able to change the oil in his own car? Not a fan of trolling, as a side note -- I'm more of a tell someone they're an idiot kind of guy than a lead people into making themselves look like idiots guy. One, its more direct and it relies less on being an annoying twat and two, I just don't need the attention.
Anyway.
Hmm, to answer your question about "what makes a man masculine", its not really a cookie cutter thing -- but yaoi bait boytoys definitely are not anywhere close to the masculinity scale. As far as real life examples go -- I'm not a fan of being in the only guy in a room capable of handling himself if something goes wrong. When crunch time rolls around, girly guys are distinctly useless in my experience -- and frankly I'd rather just have another girl there if I'm going to have to be taking care of people. If I'm on a road trip, for example, and the car breaks down -- if I'm the only one who actually knows how to fix it, it better be because everyone else is either too young to help or a girl. I don't like people who are wastes of space. (Funny enough, I know more girls who can change their own oil than I know guys -- and that bugs the heck out of me, not on the woman side, but on the sadness of the guy side of it) I guess in that example, Masculinity is just a concept of being able to handle a situation -- granted, like I said above, I know more women who could handle a situation like that than I do men, but still the basic concept is typically lent to concepts of the dominant male. Meh, I mean, growing up I helped build the second story to my parent's current house and my Dad is an ex-Marine -- so yeah, my opinion is obviously biased.
Like I said before, I guess I'm just tired of Skinny Jean America and the whole scrawny preteen saving the world from eons old evil forces.
All of that aside, I still think the Phantasy Star Online method of making it so your character can be anything from a 5 year old to a gargantuan body builder would be the best option. I'm a fan of letting anyone do whatever they want -- the specifics of my opinion as they are expressed are unimportant compared to my preference for everyone having their own options.
