Hyur Male: "Whew, okay, okay... so get this.. at first, there were these squirrels, small as the eye can see! I could not seem to hit them at all! Miss, miss, miss, miss, and then whenever I finally landed a blow, i would get xp but wouldn't actually get it until the end of the battle!"

Miqo'te Female: "Ugh that sounds horrible! Like that blasted skill-up system in FFXI!"

Elezen Male: "Ah yes, indeed that does sound quite horrible, but DO go on.."

Hyur Male: "alright, so then the world started changing a bit, started noticing some new trends, and these coatees that were revealing when worn by females, Miqo'tes especially loved to flaunt them. I also noticed that I was able to land my attacks with much ease, and I would earn a set amount of xp per mob now."

Elezen Male: "That doesn't sound too bad.."

Hyur Male: "Forgot to tell you that I had to wait a few second after selecting a command, due to the horrible UI."

Female Miqo'te: "What the heck are you talking about?"

Hyur Male: "Something you are lucky never to have experienced. Imagine having a stamina bar that slowly refills and having to wait to use certain actions, even the basic attacks. I found myself waiting for a good 5 seconds one time for an opening to use a basic attack, just for the stamina to drop and have to wait even more."

Elezen Male: "I have heard of this before, how dreadful it must have been."

Hyur Male: "Yeah, and then after a few short months, I started attacking on my own! Uncontrollably! Best part is that I could use my skills whenever I wanted though, because there was no stamina bar! and then these instanced dungeons opened up around the same time.

Female Miqo'te: "That sounds strange, the world seems to be changing at an incredible rate it seems."

Hyur Male: "Oh heavens no, every day felt like a week, and every week felt like a month, every month felt like a year. Fellow adventurers all over the land would get feisty and threaten to (leave this world), The Twelve knows what they meant, but heaven forbid they were to leave, I wouldn't have minded too much."

Elezen Male: "Sounds like that time when the Empire wanted us to pay for every month we wanted to live."

Hyur Male: "Exactly! wait.. that was also part of the leve.. or.. dream. Whatever, that was when things were getting enjoyable! From that point on, it was great! I got the chance to experience something that this young lady will NEVER. GET. TO. "

Miqo'te Female: "I can haz coatee then? :<"

Back when I got into XIV (closed beta > open beta > live beta) I always had this feeling (at the world was very peaceful, there wasn't much sense of danger) that there was going to be a day when us old timers will talk about "remember the old eorzea"... I never expected the news last Friday, but I'm super excited. I've already started to see bits and pieces of the world start to change around me, and as time goes on I believe this will become more apparent.

I'm excited to be able to witness the destruction of Eorzea.

Exactly, This is the Prologue of how it all began, We witnessed it, we played it, and it seemed very peaceful. When you get to the R46 Mission you start actually seeing the Empire and now as the patches move onward they become more Violent, when they been quite for over 20 years. WHat have they been planning? Are they the Real Threat? NO sir they are not.. Primals hold the Enegry to which Eorzea holds this world afloat.

This is like FF7 all over again with the Mako Reactors Drawling the life out of the Planet. This is the same Situation, only difference is the Empire is after it. As you witnessed, After the Ifrit Battle (easy mode) is the Empire's Judge ( what Im calling him lol) Says his Speech and destroys the Aether in which holds the Energy of the Primal. With that Disconnected from the world a part of the world is now Damaged.

Will we be able to stop them from destroying our Source that keeps us on this World?

Ready your arms men, Its time for War! Grand Companies Unite to Protect Eorzea! Protect our Land!

What will the Future be like... 11 months from now?..... Prepare yourself for the Darkness ahead... Twelve Speed be with you all..

Now this game is very different, and despite Yoshida saying he wouldn't do a wipe, making all our gear dated and removing physical levels was pretty much a rollback.
    Um. No, not so much.

I thought removal of physical levels would piss me off, but it turns out that my guy is an unstoppable engine of doom now.

I used to be able to solo NMs. Now I can't even take 1 hit from a leve mob on 5 stars. I went from an unstoppable engine of doom to a weak mage that can't even cure a party member once without being one-shotted.

Yeah, that's pretty appropriate. Did you not realize that you're playing a Squishy? You're not supposed to be taking big hits as a mage. Not only that, but 5-star leves are meant to be done as a group - you aren't supposed to be doing them solo, so it's not surprising to hear that you are having a hard time dealing with the damage output.

I think what you're really complaining about is the removal of a broken and illogical system, and the implementation of a functional and logical system.

I think the story and lore has some really cool elements but the method of storytelling is a complete wreck which ended up making it just tedious and for the first game in my entire life, I actually skip some paragraphs of dialogue because I have no idea what they're talking about.

The new devs are doing a better job but the material they were left to work with is almost unsalvagable. So I'm cautiously optimistic with how V2 will pan out story-wise and I'm glad it's getting a fresh start. The inclusion of more voice-acting has me very excited too, assuming they actually use half-decent VA's this time...

I said I was in a party. And whether it was broken or not is a matter of debate, I think all they needed to do was remember your stat allocations when you changed classes. As for logic, tell me how it's more logical. To me, it seems like if you're swinging a sword all day, when you switch to a staff, you're naturally going to be stronger. If anything, the new system is more illogical. Where does all that progress we've made go when we switch between classes? Why am I able to deftly wield a sword and tank monsters one minute, but when I switch to a staff, I'm suddenly a weakling? That doesn't make any sense.

Pretty sure that's coming for 1.20.

It's the tradeoff for being able to wield magic, which does tremendous damage and is really flexible. You shouldn't have both high HP and strength and be able to do so simultaneously; I even question allowing them to carry a shield, that sure as hell doesn't fit in with most rule sets.

I guess the only other alternative would be to propose a system in which you couldn't change stats or jobs at all. Doesn't sound like much fun. That being the case, a system in which your stats adjust to the job you have at the moment is the most logical one. I would also point out that the stats were in large part broken before the last patch; also, are you putting materia in your armor to give yourself added defense or evasion, extra hp or vitality? Are you using Defender or Aegis Boon or Sentinel before popping your spells off? There are a lot of tricks for getting around big damage, if you use them...
