    How about a NQ and HQ version for each tier as an alternative to removing subtiers completely. It simplifies the system while still giving players something superior to work towards.

    How about just changing the sub-tiers to main tiers.

    Granted you will have probably 16-20 Tiers of materia but at least you can stack the same types and know which are the highest in that archetype.

    We have a million inventory slots temporarily, and then supposedly everything major is getting branched off into its own sub-inventories. Still, I couldn't agree more, there are too many iterations of each materia type. And really, who's going to bother slotting Hp/Mp+5 when the same materia type gives Hp/Mp+10? Just give us one or two iteration per type and tier that's optimal.

    They'd have to have different level requirements, too. Still, I feel like any intermediate materia is almost completely useless as is and this would not change that. Why would you ever buy grade III materia when it costs hundreds of thousands of gil, so you're not going to put it on non-level cap gear, yet it's weaker than grade IV? The more you screw around with stepping stone grade materia, the longer it takes to save for that final materia you actually want to end up with.

    Yeah, the current materia system is murder on the inventory.

    The solution seems pretty simple:

    Get rid of sub-tiers.

    Expand the main tiers to go from Tier I to Tier VII, and adjust the drop rates accordingly to keep top tier materia rare.

    Let identical materia stack

    Give materia their own tab in the inventory

    Categorize and divide the market wards materia search into "Stat Materia", "Gathering Materia", "Crafting Materia", "Elemental Materia", and "Status Resist Materia".

    Keep the tiers, fix storing them (and buying/selling them) with one of the many suggestions out there in 1.20.

    I also agree with the original post! I really hate the sub tier system.
    It's way too hard to find or make the best of a tier of materia. I would really like to see sub tiers go by the way side. I kinda like the idea of a NQ and HQ of each lvl though that would work out well I think.

    As far as the inventory issue I agree that materia could use it's own tab and it also needs to stack if it's the same lvl and sub tier...

    Also if there is another post on the boards about materia sub tiers can someone please link it so I may post on it as well? Thanks!
